What's Next for Randy Moss?

The Minnesota Vikings decided to release wide receiver Randy Moss, only a few weeks after trading for him. It most definitely came as a shock to me when I heard about this, even after his crazy press conference outing. Moss is still one of the best receivers in the game and can make a huge impact on any team. He does sometimes have a lack of effort and also makes outrageous comments, but he is a damn good receiver.

Now we will see whether any other team is willing to take a chance on Moss and bring him in to help them push for the playoffs. One thing is for sure, there are many teams that could use his talents. Some have thrown out the idea that the Patriots may take a look into bringing him back, but how idiotic would that be.?I mean he is a great fit there, and he obviously loves New England, but why would you pick up someone you just got rid of a few weeks back?

Some teams that have also been mentioned are the San Diego Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Washington Redskins and St. Louis Rams.

San Diego may be a good spot for Moss, with Vincent Jackson gone until Week 12, but Rivers is throwing 300+ yards a game without a true No.1 receiver, so not fully necessary.

The Chiefs could use Moss even though they have Dwayne Bowe. Most of the Kansas City organization is made up of ex-Patriots and Matt Cassel did throw to Moss in 2008 when he filled in for an injured Tom Brady. This would be a great fit but not sure if Moss will fall that far down in waivers.

The Jets do not need him in my opinion; they have Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards and Jerricho Cotchery.

The Redskins could definitely use him to line up along side Santana Moss, but they are having quarterback-coach issues at the moment so not sure if this is the right time to bring in Randy Moss.

And finally the Rams would be idiotic to throw Moss in there to work with a rookie in Sam Bradford. Not a good idea at all.

Two teams that I haven’t really heard being mentioned are the Chicago Bears and the Oakland Raiders. Now we all know that Moss’ time in Oakland before didn’t go so well, and this may be the only reason that this doesn’t make sense, but the Raiders definitely need a receiver. Chicago has been looking for a receiver for years. Unless they are ready to give up hope in Jay Cutler, I think this would be a great move.

So my top three places for Moss to end up would be Chicago, Washington and Oakland/Kansas City (either of the AFC West teams could use him but most likely will not get him). We will wait and see if any team takes a chance or whether he will just sit out the rest of the season.
