Week 9 Pickups and Dumps

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their rookie running back LeGarrette Blount would like to forget about 2009. That was the year that the Bucs finished with three wins, which was three more than Blount had as a starter for Oregon in the same year. If last year was the year of disappointments, then 2010 is the year of redemption as Blount leads the Bucs to a 5-2 start.

Pickups

LeGarrette Blount - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - RB 
Blount rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday, making him the best running back pickup available in many leagues in a shallow running back season. The downside is that he has averaged two punching incidents in the last two seasons.

Steve Breaston - Arizona Cardinals - WR 
Breaston gives hope to the injured players on my fantasy team with 147 receiving yards in his first game back from arthroscopic knee surgery.

Troy Smith - San Francisco 49ers - QB 
The former Heisman Trophy winner had 196 passing yards, one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown in his regular season debut as a 49er. He has made a strong case to be the starter for the remainder of the season, unless Alex Smith talks Mike Singletary into letting him stay on the field, again.

Dumps

Heath Miller - Pittsburgh Steelers - TE 
Miller had a monster game of 222 yards and one touchdown… wait, that’s what he did all season.

Mark Sanchez - New York Jets - QB 
After throwing for zero interceptions in his first five games this season, Sanchez has shown shades of the previous Jets quarterback in his last two games with four interceptions.

Minnesota - Minnesota Vikings - DEF/ST 
Randy Moss wasn’t trying hard in his last game. What was the Vikings defense’s excuse?
