Donovan McNabb Benching Leads to Workout For JaMarcus Russell
Want a holy crap moment?
You got it.
Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan did his best to explain what happened with Donovan McNabb being benched during the fourth quarter of the Redskins loss to the Lions.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
According to Kyle Shanahan, McNabb had been hampered by bad hamstrings and was told in advance that he could be pulled at any time.
JaMarcus Russell was among a few quarterbacks who got a workout for the team on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
When asked about Russell's performance assistant coach Shanahan had this to say:
"I don't think you consider anyone just based off of talent. Everyone in the NFL's pretty talented. (It's) other stuff that really separates you. He is very talented, so I think he can overcome some of the stuff that he struggled with. I don't really know that personally, but if he looks like he's in good shape out here and he's working, and that's all you can evaluate. Sometimes when guys do get a second opportunity, they can change their stripes."
Could JaMarcus Russell change his stripes? My completely unprofessional opinion tells me that is not likely. Al Davis gave him every opportunity to change in Oakland and he showed up overweight and played poorly. So poorly, the upstart United Football League would not even sign him.
This comes after the Redskins have already signed John Beck to a multi-year extension at the end of preseason. A possible resigning of preseason hopeful Richard Bartel could be one option for the front office.
