Randy Moss Waived: What Are the Minnesota Vikings Thinking?
Michael Lombardi has reported that the Minnesota Vikings have waived Randy Moss this afternoon, prompting a reaction from many of "What in the hell are the Vikings thinking?"
Four weeks ago they traded for the talented receiver that they originally drafted in hopes that he could help out a wide receiving corps that wasn't getting the job done.
While Moss' production on the field statistically wasn't spectacular by any means, it was clear his presence on the field opened room up for Percy Harvin, who has blossomed since No. 84's arrival.

Now the Vikings are back to where they started.
Not only is this a bad football decision for Minnesota, but it also makes the organization as a whole look ridiculous. They are still on the hook for Moss' salary for the remainder of the season and had to part ways with a third-round pick to acquire him.
Moss handled his press conference poorly, and the Vikings have a reason to be upset. But letting him go doesn't make any sense. Didn't they consider that things could have potentially gone bad when they acquired him? I mean, they've seen this story before with Moss.
Unless something happened behind closed doors—which would be the only logical reason Minnesota waived him—his press conference didn't warrant being let go. This seems like an impulse move by a team that is in a state of chaos right now.
It also is a move that signifies Brad Childress may not be out after this season. Clearly the front office could have fired Childress but instead sided with him and fired Moss.
Over the next few days we will find out what really is going on in Minnesota. Another thing to watch for is the fallout from Moss being released. Brett Favre cannot be happy about this decision, and it seems like the Vikings are almost daring him to go back to Mississippi.
What once looked like a promising season for the Purple has turned into a disastrous situation that is going to continue to get worse before it gets better.
