Randy Moss Waived By Minnesota Vikings

Ethan NorofNov 1, 2010

Well, that was quick.

After just four games with his old team, the Vikings have decided that the Randy Moss experiment is over.

After refusing to fly home with his teammates after the Vikes loss to the Patriots Sunday, Moss was placed on waivers by the team.

It's not everyday that you see an NFL team give up one of its most talented players for nothing, but that's exactly what the Vikings have done. After acquiring him for a third-round pick just a month ago, the team has done little to get Moss involved in the offense. Furthermore, the team did very little with the inside knowledge that he provided prior to the critical match-up against New England.

While it's no secret that Moss is a loudmouth who speaks his mind, he was well within his rights to challenge the coaching staff after a terribly mismanaged game. It seems that the eventual Hall of Famer can't catch a break these days, and he's sure to wind up with a new team by the end of the week.

Whatever team claims him will be on the hook for the remainder of his $6.4 million salary this season, but since it will be prorated, it may not be too much of a financial burden for the majority of teams.

The win-less Bills have the first dibs at his services, and it should be interesting to see which teams make a claim as he has proved very capable of still being able to help any team in need at the position.

From a fantasy football perspective, former teammate Percy Harvin may take a step back now that teams can focus more on him in the passing game, while TE Visanthe Shiancoe may see an increase in production now that the deep threat is gone.

As New England fans sit back and smile, Minnesota fans can only hope that next season will be better than this year's ridiculous fiasco.

Things are clearly in disarray with the Vikings.
