Distractions Won't Prevent Manny Pacquiao From Winning
We learned by watching the second installment of HBO's 24/7 that Manny Pacquiao is trying to please his trainer and the public.
With about a week remaining for his fight against Antonio Margarito, Pacquiao is evenly balancing his in-the-ring activities with his out-of-the-ring events.
Manny is singing at a wedding party in his homeland, and attending political meetings.
Roach must have let up on the film crew shooting footage of Pacquiao's sparring sessions. It was reported that he would ban them.
What's even more interesting is that Pacquiao is putting in practice rounds with Amir Khan. In the light welterweight division, Khan is mentioned as being a good future opponent for Pacquiao.
Unfortunately, that might not happen for Khan. Other fighters like Timothy Bradley, Devon Alexander, Juan Manuel Marquez (again) and Shane Mosley are getting in line after, of course, Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The "Pac Man" will be well into retirement after his date with Mayweather. He doesn't need to bother with the other clowns waiting in line for the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
The long plane ride from the Philippines to L.A. wore Pacquiao down, as we saw on the program. It didn't stop Top Rank promoter Bob Arum from asking him to come to Las Vegas for more public business.
So while Roach was frustrated, Margarito kept working hard. He's real confident that he will beat Pacquiao.
While watching Pacquiao's fight at trainer Robert Garcia's home against Joshua Clottey, they noticed that Clottey stopped working near the end of the fight. Margarito knows that Pacquiao has fast hands, but he thinks that his punches are more powerful and lethal.
Garcia thinks that Margarito's stock will rise if he beats Pacquiao. If Margarito wins, will he keep Garcia as his trainer, or solicit the services of a more experienced trainer?
If Margarito wins, he can hire Roger or Floyd Mayweather.
Many people want to pull for the underdog in Margarito. I want Pacquiao to win, but I'm rooting for Floyd.
