WWE Superstars 10/28/10 Review: Reks In Effect, Family Affairs

Graham GSM MatthewsOct 29, 2010

Mark Henry def. Jey Uso w/Jimmy Uso and Tamina

Decent match seeing that Henry was in it, and that Jey Uso actually didn't get dominated.

Jey Uso hit some nice spots, but Jimmy Uso had a great spot from the outside with that kick. It was logical to have Henry get the win, but this match was set up only to get both wrestlers in action. I don't see a feud coming, but what disappoints me the most was, where the hell was Ezekiel Jackson?

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

What better way to return to RAW after a multiple-month injury than to feud with a WWE veteran that he could have good matches with? Jackson wasn't shown on RAW nor Superstars, so I'm guessing the PPV was only a one-night push. VERY disappointing for Jackson, as I see great things for him.

Zack Ryder def. Tyson Kidd

Great match, but I was surprised to see this matchup come early and thought it would happen following the Hart Dynasty split. I was happy it came early, as these two work great together and have good chemistry.

Both hit some nice spots, and I was very happy with the ending. Ryder needs more WRESTLING exposure on RAW, and hopefully this pushes him towards it. Regarding the feud between the Dynasty, I'm good with it. I'm glad Smith will be the heel, and he's only one move away from officially becoming it.

MVP def. Curt Hawkins

Much like the previous match, these two work well together. I'm digging this new singles star in Hawkins, and now I see he is much better in singles, whereas in tag team he is just buried. I'm also digging the new theme of MVP, and unlike many people, I don't care if he stays face or heel.

I think he's better as a good mid-card face because Smackdown is in need of that, and he is getting huge pops. The finish was perfect, and the Play of the Day was better than most of the ones he hits. Both need wins, but I'm glad MVP picked it up.

Hopefully Hawkins will bounce back soon, but why isn't he feuding with Archer?

Tyler Reks def. Chris Masters

Both superstars are improving massively, but why was this the main event? Reks has done little to nothing, so putting him in the main event could get people used to him, but no one knows him.

Masters, on the other hand, is a great stepping stone. I'm glad he's getting on TV every week, win or lose. The match was mediocre, but it's logical to give Reks the win to push him as an aggressive mean-streak star. The finish wasn't that bad, but I felt like it came out of nowhere.

Final Review

Not an awesome edition, but it made for good television. It featured a variety of different young superstars, and I liked the different matchups. No big names, but this is the format it should be every week with a guest star every few weeks.
