NFL Week 8 Predictions: Will Bye Week Hurt NFL-Best New York Jets?

Denton RamseyOct 27, 2010

NFL Week 8 Predictions are in the house, at least my personal picks of the contests to come.

And from a gridiron game between the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos at London’s Wembley Stadium to a Monday night matchup at Indianapolis between the Colts and Houston Texans, there’s plenty on tap in Week 8 action.

Teams with a bye week on Halloween Sunday include the Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles.

So, with looming questions—ranging from the New York Jets returning to the field after a bye week to how 49ers QB Troy Smith will fare in London—let’s begin examining Sunday’s showdowns before concluding with ESPN’s Monday Night Football game…

Line

Kansas City -7.5

Why the Bills Could Win

The Bills (0-6) remain the lone winless team in the NFL, and it would take a complete miracle for Buffalo to win this weekend at Kansas City.

Why the Chiefs Could Win

The Kansas City Chiefs (4-2) should walk away with an easy win in Sunday’s Week 8 contest, especially considering the team is 3-0 at home.

Prediction

Kansas City wins in a landslide, Chiefs by 24.

Detroit Lions Vs. Washington Redskins

Line

Detroit -2.5

Why the Redskins Could Win

The Redskins (4-3) heads out this weekend for a matchup with the reeling Detroit Lions—and considering Washington is 2-1 on the road, the team should be able to start a streak after a Week 7 win.

Why the Lions Could Win

The Detroit Lions (1-5) are aiming to do everything possible to contain the Washington Redskins on Sunday and attain a victory, but will likely continuing it’s losing slide after falling last weekend.

Prediction

Washington marches into Detroit and garners a big road win; Redskins by six.

Cincinnati Bengals Vs. Miami Dolphins

Line

Cincinnati -2

Why the Dolphins Could Win

The Miami Dolphins (3-3) enter this weekend’s showdown after a heartbreaking loss to Pittsburgh in Week 7, and aim to bounce back by improving on it’s undefeated 3-0 road mark.

Why the Bengals Could Win

The Cincinnati Bengals (2-4) have lost three straight contests and will be not hesitate to go to extremes to pick up a win and dig itself out of it’s current slump; but don’t count on that happening.

Prediction

Dolphins cruise on the road, with Miami winning by 10.

Why the Cowboys Could Win

The Dallas Cowboys (1-5) can’t seem to find a way to win this season—especially at home (0-3)—and look to break free from a three-game slide.

Prediction
