Fantasy Football Week 8 Rankings: Top 25 Quarterbacks (Tony Romo Fallout & More)
Eric StashinOct 27, 2010
There has been too much news this week to wait too long to update our quarterback rankings.
Tony Romo, who originally was ranked second on our rankings, is out for the next six to eight weeks. Brett Favre, who hasn’t been ruled out yet, is extremely doubtful.
Let’s take a look at how things currently look, though we will again update the rankings later in the week if necessary:

Thoughts
- Tony Romo’s injury leaves Jon Kitna to start for the Dallas Cowboys. While he has a favorable matchup, his Week 7 action was his first in roughly two years. He looked pretty good, going 16-of-33 for 187 yards and two touchdowns, and looks to have a good rapport with Dez Bryant. Still, with the risk he brings with him, he’s nothing more than an option for those in two-quarterback formats.
- While there is talk of Brett Favre playing this week, right now I don’t buy it. He’s being replaced on the rankings by Tarvaris Jackson, who would get an opportunity against a Patriots passing defense that has been beat up in 2010. Still, do you have any faith in him?
- At this point, it appears David Garrard will be returning as the Jaguars quarterback this week, barring a setback. I know, let’s not all get excited at once.
- There’s still a lot of question on if it will be Jason Campbell or Bruce Gradkowski for the Raiders for the upcoming week. Until we hear otherwise, Campbell is going to remain on our rankings.
- Alex Smith is out for the next few weeks and will be replaced by Troy Smith as the 49ers' starting quarterback. Does anyone even care? This is a situation to avoid in all formats at this point.
What are your thoughts on these rankings? Who’s too high? Who’s too low?
