Brock Lesnar: Why His Career Won't Be Hurt By His Loss to Cain Velasquez

James EvensOct 26, 2010

As you have all heard by now, Brock Lesnar was demolished on Saturday night at UFC 121 in his main event fight against Cain Velasquez.. Lesnar was defeated by TKO in the first round of the fight. Although Lesnar made an early charge, featuring a few aggressive moves, Velasquez's superior boxing and ground-and-pound won the fight.

After the fight, the bloodied Lesnar gave his opponent praise in a move of class and poise.  Although losing the fight was a big deal, it will not hurt his career in the future.

He Is Still MMA's Biggest Attraction

Although losing the title was a major blow, he will still draw crowds and be able to be the main attraction at UFC events.

Lesnar is strong enough to come back from this devastating loss and maintain a successful career.  It will allow him to further diversify his professional record, and allow him to maybe have a chance at the title, once he deserves it, unlike last time.

Possible Rematch Against Velasquez

If Lesnar can stay undefeated, and Velasquez can retain his title for a while, we are looking a rematch that will be one of the most highly-touted rematches in history.  The build-up to the the first fight was immaculate, one can only imagine, if the two titans battled it out for the second time.

He's Still Drawing Attention

Even after his loss, Lesnar is still drawing attention from the media, even myself.

Everyone is so fascinated that Lesnar lost, that very few people know who actually won the fight. That doesn't make a lot of sense, but take for example SportsCenter.  After the fight, the headline was Lesnar lost, Lesnar this, Lesnar that.  I only heard a few mentions of Cain Velasquez, on SportsCenter, just a lot about what Lesnar did wrong.

Although Lesnar lost his belt, he still is bringing fans to the sport.  He is a monster of men, and creates a buzz in the arena whenever he fights.  Although he is no longer the champion, people still want to see him, and the buzz around him will remain.

The Next Big Thing! Again!

His loss to Velasquez is giving Lesnar the opportunity to prove himself to all his doubters in the MMA.  Many people view Lesnar as a big oaf, that just overpowers his opponents with his brute size and strength.

Having this opportunity to fly under the radar, and face some easier opponents, will give Lesnar the opportunity to further develop his style to create the ultimate monster.  Look for Lesnar to be back on top within the next few years.
