LeBron James Miami Heat: Will LeElbow Act Up Again and Keep Miami from a Title?
The anticipation is over; the season is actually here. LeBron James and the Miami Heat finally get to begin their heavily scrutinized journey in quest of a championship.
Countless questions surround the rebuilt Miami Heat, ranging from chemistry issues to figuring out what type of offense will have to be run to satisfy all three superstars.
However, one of the bigger questions is without doubt injuries. Miami has already had more than its fair share of headaches on the injury front, and the season hasn’t even begun. Dwyane Wade tweaked his hamstring in the first few minutes of the preseason and was forced to miss the remainder of preseason action. Mike Miller will sit out until January after undergoing surgery on his thumb. Carlos Arroyo and Mario Chalmers have also battled minor injuries in the preseason.
All of this injury mess has begun to make Heat fans sweat a little, and rightfully so. If Miami players can’t stay out of the training room this season, James and his new teammates will have a difficult time finding the elusive Larry O’Brien trophy.
Speaking of James, despite being healthy for the most part this season, the new Heat super star has been in the center of many injury talks amongst Heat fans this offseason. Why?
The elbow.
After struggling with his right elbow at the end of last season and in the playoffs, James has come out on the record this offseason and said its fine. It appeared he had really rested it this summer, as the 6'8" forward looked noticeably lighter prior to training camp beginning for the Heat.
However, fine or not, James’ elbow is definitely a concern for Miami. Having personally suffered from an elbow injury myself, I can say that it perhaps is one of the most nagging injuries one can suffer. Just when it gets better, you do something to tweak it again.
Hopefully, this isn’t the case for James and the Miami Heat, as the new big three will need as much playing time together that they can get in their first year.
If motivation has anything to do with it, James probably will not let anything hinder his goal of a title, especially something as minor as an elbow injury. The public has seen James deal with criticism all summer long and even retort to some of that criticism.
James will be focused this year and hungrier than ever. Don’t count on an elbow issue standing in his way.
