Kansas City Chiefs: Dwayne Bowe Puts on a Show As Chiefs Dominate Jaguars

Bill RobbinsOct 25, 2010

Kansas City Chiefs wideout Dwayne Bowe has been on the most inconsistent players at his position that the team has had on their roster in recent years.

The former first-round pick has had his ups and downs in his time as a Chief. During Bowe's rookie season, he caught 70 passes for 995 yards and also added five touchdowns as well.

During that 2007 season, he made a variety of highlight-reel catches and he was starting to make his mark as a solid receiver in this league.

Bowe's sophomore campaign was just as impressive as he started every game of the year, and wound up with 1,022 receiving yards and doubled his TD total from his rookie year, as he caught 10 touchdown passes.

The next season, Bowe regressed severely as he was was suspended four games by the NFL for violating the league's drug policy and he finished the year with only 589 yards receiving.

Let's fast forward to 2010. After a painful game for Bowe in Week 5 against Indianapolis, which saw him drop a sure touchdown catch and another ball in the very next play, the former LSU product has turned in two marvelous games for his club.

In Week 6 against Houston, caught six balls from Cassel for 108 yards and found the end zone twice. He looked like a man with an an agenda out there, as he was knifing through the Texans defense all day long.

Yesterday against Jacksonville, Bowe had two more touchdowns, including a 53-yard catch and run from Cassel, where Bowe shredded two more defenders en route to the end zone.

Bowe's second touchdown of the day was equally as impressive as he leaped up and was able to barely get both feet in bounds on a six-yard pass from Matt Cassel.

That's right the same Dwayne Bowe that made one of the best catches of the Chiefs' season yesterday afternoon also is the same man who used to be the reason that his team led the league in drops for wide receivers.

He was a large reason why the Chiefs were able to put a 42-20 smack down on the Jaguars and he looks to be a large part of this Chiefs offense going forward, and with many more performances like the one yesterday, Bowe could be the franchise receiver that Kansas City has never had before.
