IPL: A Sea Of Storms for Kochi, Kings XI and Rajasthan Royals

Linus FernandesOct 25, 2010

The route to IPL4 has never seemed as foggy as it is today.

And there seems to be no one sounding the fog horn either!

The three vessels SS Kings XI Punjab, SS Rajasthan Royals and SS Kochi are stranded in the stormy seas seeking a lighthouse to guide them to safety.

But their distress signals, their SOSs, have received little response from the current keepers of the beacon.

The IPL seas are still uncharted waters, and the reefs are mapped as they are traversed.

Three voyages in three seasons and it was Heigh Ho! Life’s a bottle of rum!

Life’s not so rummy any more for the voyagers.

Nor quite so profitable!

The treasure hunt continues!

The Rajasthan Royals have decided to bite the bullet and take the BCCI to court.

This morning, the 25th of October, 2010, the Jaipur team have filed a petition in the Bombay High Court challenging its termination.

The team management was seen as close to the ex-IPL honcho Lalit Modi; Mod’s brother-in-law Suresh Chellaram has a stake in the franchisee.

Modi has criticised the Enforcement Directorate for issuing a "Blue Corner" notice against him.

Calling the notice "highly improper and a serious interference with my personal liberty," the former IPL commissioner reiterated his willingness to answer any questions via video link or at the Indian embassy in London.

"

"To completely obviate any suggestion of my avoiding questioning, I am even willing to have the concerned officers of the Enforcement Directorate, flown in to London, at my cost, and appear before them and any questions that they may wish to put to me.

"The intelligence reports I have provided are of the highest credibility and thus my legitimate apprehensions as to my safety."

"

The former IPL head is currently in the UK following threats to his life from the Indian underworld.

The Enforcement Directorate is expected to revoke Modi’s passport if the stalemate is not resolved before the 28th of October, 2010.
