Cleveland Browns Upset New Orleans Saints 30-17, Pick Off Drew Brees for 4 INTs
Who Dat?
Who dat say was gonna get beaten by the New Orleans Saints again?
Who would have thought that after losing on the road in Pittsburgh 28-10 with Colt McCoy under center that the Browns would even stand a chance, let alone a prayer, on the road?
I guess God was working overtime and may have even answered the desperate pleas for a struggling and desperate 1-5 team and Cleveland performed little bit of Bayou-style voodoo courtesy of David Bowens, Joshua Cribbs, Reggie Hodges and even Eric Wright.
Cleveland administered a Bourbon Street style beat down to New Orleans today, 30-17, but the Browns flat-out made life for Saint's quarterback, Drew Brees miserable as he was intercepted four times for the first time since a loss to Tennessee in 2007 and despite throwing for 356 yards and two touchdowns, half of his interception's were right into the arms of Browns LB David Bowens.
David Bowens returned two of Bree's errant passes for touchdowns, the first and second interception return touchdowns in his career but took a lot of the life right out of the Superdome.
Saints QB, Drew Brees has already thrown 10 interceptions after throwing 11 last year.
But the play of the day was without question the 68-yard fake punt scamper by Browns punter, Reggie Hodges on a fourth down, which would set up a Phil Dawson field goal. And to think that Hodges was the SECOND leading rusher on the team today behind Hillis.
Hillis would continue to add to his early-season rampage by running in for a four-yard touchdown, and the Browns' only offensive touchdown.
And it even looks like Joshua Cribbs is finally getting back on track as he performed a lateral pass to the maligned Eric Wright who would run for 62 yards to set up a Phil Dawson field goal.
Browns QB Colt McCoy got his first win but also passed for only 74 yards, and also caught a 13-yard pass from Peyton Hillis on a throwback play.
It really looked like the Browns brought out all the stops in this game as they did not want to go into the bye at 1-6 and then play back to back home games against AFC juggernauts, New England and New York.
If you would have told me or any other Browns fan that Cleveland would not only upset the defending Super Bowl champs on the road with a rookie quarterback making his second ever NFL start, and that the Saints would outgain Cleveland 394-211, I would have said that you would need to have your head examined.
Only thing I have to say now is where is the nearest asylum?
