Fantasy Football Week 7 Rankings: Quarterbacks

Kevin HansonOct 22, 2010

This morning we updated our fantasy football rankings for Week 7. Here are some notes regarding quarterbacks and pass defenses heading into this week:

  • No team has allowed fewer fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks than the San Diego Chargers, who host Tom Brady and the New England Patriots this week. Then again, the Chargers have only faced six below-average passing teams: Kansas City, Jacksonville, Seattle, Arizona, Oakland and St. Louis.
  • For the first time this season, Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers did not have a multi-touchdown game in their loss to the Rams.
  • Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb has zero multi-touchdown games this season.
  • Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has a streak of three consecutive multi-touchdown games, but he faces the Baltimore Ravens, who have allowed only four passing touchdowns this season.
  • Last week against the Texans, Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel threw three touchdowns and finished with 20 fantasy points. This week, he gets an equally bad passing defense in Jacksonville, who have allowed 20.2 fantasy points on average to opposing quarterbacks this season.
  • Boom or bust: Giants quarterback Eli Manning has thrown either two-plus touchdowns (four games) or no touchdowns (twice) in his six games this year.
  • Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre had only 118 passing yards against the Cowboys in Week 6. In four of five games, he has single-digit fantasy points.
  • Cowboys quarterback, Tony Romo, has scored 20-plus fantasy points in his past two games. This week, Romo faces the Giants, who have allowed fourth-fewest fantasy points (8.7 per game) to opposing quarterbacks.
  • Speaking of Romo, he is the quarterback in our free Week 7 Fantasy Football Contest (based on Monday Night Football). New entries welcome and encouraged.
  • In his past two games since the team switched offensive coordinators, 49ers quarterback Alex Smith has thrown five touchdowns and only two interceptions.
