Arsenal Golden Generation and Youngsters That Will Serve Club for Years To Come

Michael HomesOct 22, 2010

Arsenal has always held a proud tradition of bringing talent through its youth system but in recent years due to the financial constraints it has had to put its youth development into overdrive.and it has already begun to reap rewards

Every club can look back in history and remember a Golden Generation, a group of players that have exceptional amount of talent, confidence in their ability and perfect timing

The most successful club in recent history to produce such generation was Manchester United and their famous 92 Youth Team which produced the likes Of Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, the Neville Brothers and Nicky Butt. A team that is still after almost 18 years helping United to Glory

I am sure Arsenal fans around the world would love to know when Arsenal will produce their own Golden Generation, well they already have. Anyone who follows Arsenal youth will know of the 2008-2009 team a team that won everything their is to win as a youth team and did it with style and flair. It went on to score the most goals that season and third highest of all time while conceding the lowest of any youth team that season

A team that boasted the likes of Wilshere, Jay Emmanuel Thomas, Kyle Bartley and Szczesny

In this article I will try and get you better acquainted to the future of Arsenal and members of the Golden Generation who have a good chance of making it at Arsenal (some already have).

Jack Wilshere

1 of 14

I thought I will start with the best and anyone who has seen JACK WILSHERE will agree that Jack is the best young English talent out their.

Wilshere is a member of Arsenal Golden Generation and his rise at Arsenal and as an England International has been nothing short of extraordinary

Wilshere although only 18 has been ever present in Arsenal starting lineup and has already cemented his place in  the English squad

The sky is the limit for Wilshere and when a player like Arshavin comes out and say Wilshere is already better than him then you have to wonder how good this kid can be when he reaches his prime which is still 3-4 years away

Aaron Ramsey

2 of 14

Aaron is a product of Cardiff youth academy, a club and an academy famed for producing world class talent.

Arsenal had to beat the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea for Ramsey's signature and with the way he started the 09-10 season I think it would be difficult for any one not to call the 5 million transfer fees a bargain

Aaron Ramsey is already a Welsh International and has started for Wales over 11 times and scored two goals in the process

Ramsey's injury was the result of a stupid  sloppy tackle from a player and a team designed to stop you from playing and kick the team that does want to play. And people wonder how these team go overboard, what was worse was the Stoke City  fans who booed Ramsey while he was being stretchered off

Ramsey is about to reach full fitness and while others might shy away from tackle after such injury, Ramsey is a player who in his own words wants to come back even stronger
"Even though I've had a little blip, and I'm very confident I will come back from this as an even stronger and better player."

And anyone who has seen him play will know that if theirs anyone out their that come back from an injury unscathed and stronger then its Ramsey

Wojciech Szczesny

3 of 14

Szczesny is a keeper with Exceptional talent,a desire and a belief that he can one day become the very best.

He's a player who believes that he is the solution to Arsenal goalkeeping problem and you should see him in next week Carling cup game and hopefully future FA Cup games aswell

I think Wenger's statement says it all about this lad

"We have identified Wojciech as a future great, great goalkeeper, I really believe in him that he will one day be Arsenal's No 1. He has all the qualities you want from a goalkeeper."

Havard Nordtveit

4 of 14

Nordtveit is a predominanelty a CB who can also play as a RB.

He was bought from a Norwegian club named Haugesund where he was the youngest player  to feature for their first team. His performanes in Haugesund first team brought rave reviews and caught the attention of Europe's biggest clubs so much so that Arsene Wenger traveled to Norway personally in a bid to sign him.

Nortvedit parents were impressed by the effort Arsenal were putting to try to sign him and finally decided that Arsenal was the right choice for their son. A fees around £500k was agreed and Nortvedit was immediately send on loan to get experience.

He has now spend almost 2 and half years on loan with the most recent loan at the Bundesliga side named Nurmberg where he again impressed.

He has being featuring for Arsenal reserves this season as he negotiates his contract with the club and will be looking for assurances for first team football with the club and seeing his talent it will be very hard for Wenger to not play in the cup games this season

Kyle Bartley

Kyle Bartley is another one from the Golden Generation

A defender with good height, he's an old English styled defender who likes to defend rather than attack something Arsenal fans might like to see in their team.

Bartley is a born leader, captaining the reserves at the age of 17

He has based his game on Tony Adams and Rio Ferdinand and if he can emulate their success then he and Arsenal defense have a very bright future

Bartley has been on loan at championship club named Sheffield United where his impressive displays earned him another loan spell with the club and is now considered one of their most important players

Benik Afobe

6 of 14

Benik Afobe is name most Arsenal fans are familiar with, he came to prominence when Barcelona tried to sign him and Aneke before they could sign a professional term with the club but both decided against it

Afobe was a top scorer for the under 16s at the age of 15 and even got a chance to play against Brazil national team in a training match where he scored a beautiful goal.

Wenger is a big fan of Benik Afobe and has already called him technically perfect, he has perfect positioning and impressive finishing

He's still only 17 years old and has already won the youth PL league with the under 18s, he has won the U-17 championship with England and is now in England U19s where he was already scored 4 goals in 3 games including a hat trick in his last game

Benik is now playing for Arsenal Reserves and might even get a loan spell before the end of the season

Future is very bright for the young England star and Arsenal

Samuel Galindo

7 of 14

Arsenal snapped Galindo from under the noses of Everton,

A 6'3 giant, he has good vision and passing ability to complement his excellent vision

Wenger would have hoped to use him this season with the first team but his work permit was rejected and he was loaned to a Spanish club to further his development.

Galindo has already played for Bolivia national team and hopes to get enough caps for his national team to get a work permit for Arsenal by the end of the season

Rather than having to spend 3 years at Spain on loan

Jay Emmanuel Thomas

8 of 14

Jay Emmanuel Thomas is also one of the Golden Generation

Jay Emmanuel Thomas is the heart of Arsenal reserves this season, he started out as the guy who can play anywhere on the midfield or in attack but has now cemented his place in the right wing and is flourishing in that position while scoring 8 goal in 5 games and helping Arsenal to the top of the table

Jay has already had two loan spells and is now the most wanted man for a championship club

JET is a pacy winger, who is built like a brick and has an eye for goal.

Wenger giving him a debut against Chelsea while losing 1-0 shows the trust wenger has in him and further playing time in the Carling cup is sure to follow

Henri Lansbury

9 of 14

Henri Lansbury came to prominence for the England under 17 where his displays earned him a comparison to England international Steven Gerrad. He was described by former striker to have huge potential.

Since then Henri Lansbury has gone on to bigger and better thing and was also played a major part of Arsenal youth team double winning side (Golden Generation)

He has already had two loan spell where he scored 11 goals and set up numerous others from the midfield

Recently Henri Lansbury was involved in clash with Tottenham, Arsenal arch rival where he scored their first goal and earned praise from Arsene Wenger

"Henri Lansbury is a type of player who I rate because of his qualities, but as well his mental strength, the timing of his runs. He gives you qualities that are very difficult to find in the modern game.

“He goes always behind [the defence] and he has the timing to get in the box and scores goals from midfield. He is showing that again the other night when you see the cross coming in, who is on the move? It’s Henri.

“I like his attitude, his spirit, his mental strength and of course his qualities. He has not played for a while; he played with cramps until the last minute [against Spurs] and has a fantastic team attitude. I rate him and I like him."

Francis Coquelin

10 of 14

Francis Coquelin is a defensive midfielder who has a tank that never runs out, he's a very hard but a clean tackler and has a good passing range

He began his career at the Stade Lavallois who play in Ligue 2,Arsenal chief scout in France immediately spotted his talent and signed him up

Coquelin was part of the Golden Generation being ever present in Arsenal midfield and was one of the standout players of that season

Coquelin last year played for Arsenal reserves where he again performed admirably even though he was used as a RB for most of the season even featuring for Arsenal first team in FA cup

He has this year been loaned to Lorient (French First division) where due to international commitments has only played 4 games for Lorient but is now starting to become a regular

Coquelin was also earlier this year ever present in France midfield that wont the UEFA European U-19 Championship

Ignasi Miquel

11 of 14

Ignasi Miquel is 6'4 defender can play as either a LB or a CB, technically very goo, he's also a good reader of the game and was recently given captains armband for Arsenal reserves

Ignasi is a former Barca youth player who was dropped by Barca youth system but rather than giving up Ignasi reignited his career at Deportiva Cornella where he proved his qualities so much so that in less than a year ever every big club in Europe were after him.

Arsenal scouts already knew about him and decided that his mental toughness along with his defensive qualities made him a must have and they were able to beat several European giants for his signature

He is also a member of Arsenal Golden Generation

Wellington Alves Da Silva

12 of 14

Wellington Alves Da Silva or more commonly known as Wellington Silva is probably the most hyped player bought by Arsenal in recent history and he has done nothing to reduce it

Wellington was Player of the tournament at Nike Milk cup where he won the cup with Fluminense, he also enjoyed success with Brazil U-17 where even though being a year younger was one of their better players. Arsenal quickly agreed fees of around £4 million and are expecting him at Arsenal in January

Wellington Silva is a tricky winger who can dribble past an entire team, has an eye for a goal and finishing to match it. He can also provide excellent crosses for the front men

He has already made his mark in Brazil where he scored a goal and assist in his first game for Fluminense first team

This is one player every arsenal fan would love to see in an Arsenal shirt

Chuks Aneke

13 of 14

Chuks Aneke is my favorite reserve player, a 17 year old midfielder with world at his feet

Even though Chuks just turned 17 he is already a permanent fixture for the reserves and has scored 5 goals in 5 games continuing his excellent goal scoring form from the youth team.

Chuks won the youth premier academy league last year with Afobe and narrowly missed out on the under 17 tournament through injury. He should make his U-19 bow later on in the season and I am sure he will dominate the midfield there like he did with the under 17 and Reserves

Chuks is a 6'3 powerful midfielder who can split a defense open with his pint point passing and is excellent with ball at their feet, he also has impressive finishing

If theirs one midfielder that can make the same impact as Wishere then it will be Aneke.
