NFL Week 7 Power Rankings: Focus on the New York Giants
Over at my site—www.GuysNation.com—I do a weekly power ranking of all 32 NFL teams. It's a hugely subjective process in which I try to account for a team's strength of schedule, margin of victory, good wins and bad losses.
Where do the New York Giants currently rank?
First and foremost I'll tell you that I'm a Washington Redskins fan, and with GuysNation being run in the Washington D.C. area, you can bet that there's certainly an influence there. While I will admit to disliking the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles more than I dislike the Giants, I have no love for the blue shirts.
I have a very strong dislike of the New York Yankees, and as I know there is likely considerable overlap in Giants fans with Yankees fans (I usually attribute Jets fans to Mets fans, which I've been assured is likely correct), you can see how my leanings might sway.

All of that said, I try to be objective in my rankings. I try my best to look at each of the games a team has played and determine how that impacts my overall view of a team.
A win at home against Carolina? Not inspiring. Losses to the Colts and Titans? Probably forgivable. The win against Chicago looked better back when it happened than it does now, given the true nature of the Bears we've seen since then.
The big win in Houston was a bit eye opening to me, and much to the surprise of some of the folks who only look at a team's record, I actually give the Giants credit for their win against the Lions, as I consider Detroit to be a fairly decent team.
So where did I rank the Giants? Did my bias against them keep the NFC New York squad from being in the top 10? As there are only three teams with better records, could I have maybe put them into the top five?
Might I have set them in a higher spot than the New England Patriots, who have played one fewer game and just barely beat Baltimore in a home game Week 6?
For the complete rankings and analysis, check out the article on my website, www.GuysNation.com! Unlike Power Rankings you see elsewhere, your comments could help persuade me to rank your team better after Week 7!
