NFL Week 7 Picks: 5 Upsets Most Likely To Happen
The Pittsburgh Steelers, the New Orleans Saints, and the Baltimore Ravens are all in action this week. The outcomes of their games however, due to the play of guys like Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees and Ray Lewis are largely predetermined. They are heavy favorites challenging weaker opponents.
A few other games, however, feature battles with teams that are looking to upset the competition.
Here are five Upset Specials for Week 7.
New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys
1 of 5
The New York Giants roll into Dallas riding a three-game winning streak. The Cowboys, who are three-point favorites, can't seem to find their way.
With a devastating pass rush going up against one of the most penalized offensive lines in the league, (a line that may be without left guard Kyle Kosier) look for the Giants to harass Tony Romo all night.
The Giants also have one of the best pass defenses in the league. They will shut down the Dallas aerial attack and leave Cowboys Stadium as victors in the upset.
Philadelphia Eagles at Tennessee Titans
2 of 5
The Philadelphia Eagles, without star quarterback Michael Vick, will be looking to Kevin Kolb to once again get the job done.
This Sunday, the Eagles match up with the Tennessee Titans in a battle of 4-2 foes. The Eagles are 3-0 on the road this year and the Titans may be without both Vince Young and Kerry Collins. In that case, sixth-round draft pick Rusty Smith out of University of Central Florida would get the nod.
The Titans may be three-point favorites, but the Eagles will win this game.
St. Louis Rams at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
3 of 5
The Rams may be three-point underdogs in this road match up with the Bucs, but Sam Bradford has been playing well enough where I expect St. Louis to steal one away.
He also has Steven Jackson to hand the ball to, which should be their best option as the Tampa Bay defense has surrendered 157 YPG on the ground this season.
It will be a close game for sure, but expect the Rams to pull out a victory.
Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks
4 of 5
The Cardinals are also three-point underdogs on the road, but I expect them to win at their division rival Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks have the 30th-ranked pass defense in the NFL, and the Cardinals happen to have the best receiver in football in Larry Fitzgerald.
Look for a big day from Fitzgerald as the Cardinals roll up a victory against a Seahawks team that seems bereft of talent.
San Francisco 49ers At Carolina Panthers
5 of 5
The ugliest match up of the week features the San Francisco 49ers at the Carolina Panthers.
As literally dozens of fans watch the game unfold on television, they should be at least a little impressed that the Panthers will be able to win the game as three-point home dogs.
This may be the Panthers' only hope for a win this season, so I expect them to come out with something to prove as they win the game.
