Dallas Cowboys: Why They Will and Won't Turn it Around
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was talking about his 'Boys recently, and he believes they have what it takes to get right back into it.
"I believe we can turn things around," Jones said. "While the odds are against us, we can make all the things happen that we wanted to do this year." Then he went on to say the Cowboys needed to "reel off six, seven ballgames in a row, and we've got to start against New York" to straighten the ship.
Why They Will...They Host the Giants on Monday Night Football

If Dallas can pull off a victory against the division-leading Giants on MNF, they will be only two games back in the win column. They will also only have one more loss.
The Giants will be on a bye in Week 8, so a victory over Jacksonville at home would bring the Cowboys to within a game of the Giants.
Why They Won't...They Host the Giants on Monday Night Football

If Dallas cannot pull off the victory, they will be too far behind at 1-5 to catch anyone. Losing at home will destroy Dallas, sending them into a downward spiral which will probably result in Wade Phillips being fired.
Why They Will...The 2 Games After the Giants

The Cowboys do have a favorable schedule following the Giants. First they will host Jacksonville, who they should beat. Then they head to Green Bay to face the injury-stricken Packers. If they can reel off at least three victories in a row, the Week 10 matchup in New York would potentially be for first place with a head-to-head tie breaker with NY.
Why They Won't...Too Many Penalties and Not Enough Rock Stars
4 of 7
Dallas is the third most penalized team in the league with 48 flags for 409 yards. Ouch!
The most recent blunder was the excessive celebration after Roy Williams' TD. But it wasn't Miles Austin leapfrogging Williams, it was Sam Hurd's poor execution of being a rock star which upset the NFL. "It was my 'rock star.' I always do the rock star sign."
Why They Will...They Really Aren't That Bad, Are They?

Dallas is third in total offense and fourth in total defense—It just doesn't make sense. Actually it does. Minus-five in turnovers and all those flags don't help the Cowboys. If they can clean up their act they can go on Jerry Jones' seven-game winning streak.
Why They Won't...Felix Jones Can't Make It Through a Game Without Vomiting

I mean seriously. The guy was throwing up and getting an I.V. because he wasn't used to playing as much as he did. How is Dallas supposed to give Jones more work if he cannot handle it? If you can't count on your play makers to play the whole game it hurts the offense.
Will They or Won't They...

I don't see it happening; it's a little to much to ask.
Even if they beat NY on Monday, I can see them falling apart against the Packers in Green Bay which will lead to a season-ending, demoralizing loss in NY in Week 10. It's okay though, Jerry, it's healthy to dream—but you're dreaming a bit too big.
