WWE Bragging Rights Preview: 10 Reasons Team SmackDown Will Top Team RAW
WWE Bragging Rights is a few short days away and with 5 matches scheduled, no match may be more intresting then the Team SmackDown vs. Team Raw 14-Man Interpromotional Elimination Tag Team Match for it's respective brand's Bragging Rights.
Both teams have incredible talent and the potential to go all the way in this match, however I feel that Team SmackDown has the "Edge" (no pun intended, well actually kinda).
Team SmackDown consists of Captain The Big Show, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Alberto Del Rio, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, and Tyler Reks.
Team RAW consists of Captain The Miz, CM Punk, John Morrison, Ezekiel Jackson, R-Truth, Sheamus, and Santino Marella.
So here we go, let's get started!
Reason #1: Team RAW Has Santino Marella
1 of 10
As you can tell by the picture, this guy is a real goofball. All hope for a serious push for him was lost years ago when WWE realized he was actually more valuable to them to be an immature idiot then a professional wrestler.
I am shocked that WWE actually put him in this match considering that as soon as his music hits he puts Team RAW in an immediate disadvantage as I don't even believe he has a real move in his arsenal that can do some damage rather then make the crowd laugh.
I will be so suprised if he lasts 2 minutes in this match. Now the same can be said that the rookie Tyler Reks puts Team SmackDown in a disadvantage, however I believe that if you were to put Santino Marella and Tyler Reks in a match, Santino would lose in about 30 seconds because while he was getting ready to do the "Cobra" Reks would rek (pun intended) him.
So with a seemingly useless seventh member on Team Raw, SmackDown is at the immediate advantage and RAW will be wrestling with one less performer.
Reason #2: Veterans On Team SmackDown
2 of 10
Something that is huge in the world of sports is veterans. Veterans are seasoned guys that have been there and done that and Team SmackDown has two of them, their names are Edge and the Big Show.
Between the two of them they have 22 years combined in the WWE, and if you count Rey Mysterio who has not yet reached the decade mark, that's 3 veterans on Team SmackDown to 0 on RAW.
Veterans know all the tricks, counters, and moves in the book because they've either done it before or have had it happen to them and it could be said that referees are more partial to the veteran.
Reason #3: Team SmackDown Has The Complete Team
3 of 10
Like it or not, the most complete team is Team SmackDown. It has been sprinkled wonderfully with high-flyers, strength & power guys, mat wrestlers, submission masters, and finally excellent counterers.
Strength & Power - The Big Show - Perhaps the strongest man in wrestling his power cannot be matches nor beaten. This however hurts his speed, but ih he catches you, who needs speed? I also put Tyler Reks in this category, with his impressive physique and demonic attitude, and since we really haven't had the chance to see him in a match that lasted longer then 30 seconds I'm sure that strength and power are a part of his arsenal of skills
High Flyers - Rey Mysterio & Kofi Kingston, both these men like to fly and man can they fly. With no disregard of their bodies, in the heat of the moment they will jump of that turnbuckle and land on their opponent either on the mat or through a table.
Mat Wrestler - Jack Swagger, remember him? The All-American American ESPY Award-nominated collegiate wrestler and football player? He is a tremendous Mat wrestler able to take you down on his knees and without a doubt a threat to anyone on Team RAW. His character may be that of a slow one, but there is no doubt that Swagger can put on an incredible performance.
Excellent Counterers - Edge is an excellent counterer (if that's even a word). He can reverse an move into a finisher and that takes skill especially when you need to have the fast thinking to reverse before the move is done to you.
Submission Master - Alberto Del Rio despite his flamboyant character and somewhat weird ring-attire is a no doubt submission specialist. His finisher from how he flips his opponent to their back to him hyper-exstending the arm is simply painful. Rest assured unless with help, no one is getting out of that submission and they will tap fast.
Reason #4: Is Team RAW Really a Team?
4 of 10
- There is no doubt that Team SmackDown has it's feudal flaws, just look at this Monday when Jack Swagger put Edge in the Ankle Lock, and lets not forget Alberto Del Rio putting Rey Mysterio on the shelf for a month. However there are a lot more question marks on Raw's team.
The Miz - The Miz is the captain of Team Raw, a position that he gave himself and then later capitalized to keep in a match with John Cena. This shows his utter arrogance and cockiness that he has. The Miz is a attention whore and will do whatever he can, to get it, even if this means turning on his teammates maybe for the satisfaction of being the guy to gain the win for RAW.
CM Punk - This man is heel not face so fans should still not like him, look what he did to Evan Bourne for absolutely no reason. He too is a cocky wrestler and would undoubtedly screw one of his team mates. CM Punk has also been known to be a prima-donna and if he feels the task is not worth his time, he will simply walk-out on his team mates.
John Morrison - Now I know what your saying, what could possibly be wrong with John Morrison? Well does anybody remember the extremely successful tag team of the Miz and John Morrison? They dominated the Tag Team Division for months and then when a draft lottery ultimately broke them up, The Miz performed his Mizzard of Oz finisher to him. Since then many can say that The Miz has been the HBK of the group, while Morrison has been the Marty Jannetty. Maybe Morrison gets the revenge he never got from years ago?
Ezekiel Jackson - Well he just came back from quadricep surgery and we don't know yet if he is heel or face, so he is the real question mark of the group. Will he be a team player or an arrogant heel bent on making an impact and trying to win without the help of his team mates.
R-Truth - A couple months ago, The Miz took out R-Truth and for payback decided to interfere with The Miz's hopes of cashing in Money in the Bank. It's apparent that he doesn't like the Miz, and even him and his friend JoMo have had their issues lately.
Sheamus - Definitely not a team player and a full-blown heel. it wouldn't suprise me if Sheamus kicked Miz's head off for giving him demands due to his captain status. And once again, the Miz had problems with this man too back when Sheamus was WWE Champion and Miz gloated about how he could cash in on Sheamus whenever he wanted.
Santino Marella - He's not smart at all, he can't wrestle either. He has proven to us nothing but the fact that he is a comedian that can make the crowd laugh and he can dance. A huge question mark especially when he doesn't last 10 seconds in the ring with any of his competitors.
Reason #5: The Bad Guys Can't Win!
5 of 10
For those of you that don't get the picture, Team RAW is mostly run by HEELS.
Most fans don't like heels because of their attitudes towards the fans and other wrestlers. They think that they are the best and no one comes close to their level. No one likes a cocky wrestler, why would they like a cocky team.
The Miz, CM Punk, Sheamus and maybe even Ezekiel Jackson are the heels on this team and 3 of which are the biggest heels in the company right now. The Miz gets heat from the fans whenever his music hits because of his excellent promos he get right under the fans skin.
CM Punk's unpopular attitude towards life (Straight-Edge) is not loved by many and he loves to shove it down everyone's throat, and finally we have Sheamus who's actions are simply the reason he is hated.
Putting Triple H on the shelf for months as well as attacking his competitors from behind showing his fear of facing people face to face.
This team just has too many big-time heels for them to win, honestly rooting for Team RAW is like rooting for the Nexus.
Reason #6: Attack Of The Mascots & Ricardo Rodriguez!
6 of 10
When I say attack of the mascots, I'm referring to of course Team SmackDown mascot Hornswoggle and did we all forget the Swagger Soaring Eagle!?! Not to mention that Alberto Del Rio's ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez isn't just a ring announcer.
He has gotten involved in a couple of Del Rio's matches interferon in his behalf. So for Team RAW, despite having to fight 7 capable wrestlers they also have to fight potentially 2 mascots and a Spanish ring announcer.
Sounds to me like too big a task for RAW to overcome.
Reason #7: Team RAW's Head Not In The Right Place?
7 of 10
Team RAW"s head might not be in the right place, what do I mean? Well the Miz is the Money in the Bank contract holder and with a chance to Cash in whenever he wants he maybe concentrating on the title match that night instead of his match.
Sheamus who just a couple weeks ago was a WWE Championship contender has just been demoted to wrestling on Team RAW at Bragging Rights? He maybe thinking about a way to get back into the title picture, perhaps interfering in the match.
CM Punk hasn't had a title match in a long time and maybe thinking of something big to do to put himself back into the title picture.
Ezekiel Jackson has been on the shelf for months and he too maybe thinking of a way to make a name for himself.
JoMo has been stuck on the mid-card level for a long time and maybe doubt is sinking into his mind as well as R-Truth's mind that maybe they will never make it and won't care as much to give it 100 percent out there.
I really don't need to talk about Santino Marella, do I?
Reason #8: Team SmackDown Has All The Momentum
8 of 10
Team SmackDown after Monday Night RAW has all the momentum at this point. SmackDown invaded RAW without any problems and did whatever they wanted. If you're RAW, how do you let an entire roster of superstars come onto your show with no problem?.
So RAW had it's chance at the end of the night to lay the SmackDown on the SmackDown superstars but came short. They lost the battle Royal on their own show, which was a heartbreaking loss especially when it looked like they were gonna win.
Losing on your own turf is not a good way to show off your skills and after Monday the SmackDown roster has the bragging rights, for now.
Reason #9: SmackDown's Got The Better Coach
9 of 10
Disregard the photo, this man is a face and a good one at that. Because of his face status he is the obvious better coach as he will be truthful and fair to his team as well as loyal (or will he?).
The Miz on the other hand is not any of those things and because of this his team probably doesn't like him very much.
Because the Big Show's attitude his team will listen to him because of the respect that he gives them whereas the Miz looks as though he will just give orders and not give two craps about his team.
And once again, The Big Show is a better leader because he is a veteran and knows more about the wrestling industry the the Miz does.
Finally, Reason #10: The Ultimate Opportunist
10 of 10
SmackDown's ace in the hole, the Ultimate Opportunist, Edge! He has already proven how opportunistic he can be after spearing SmackDown's way to victory in the Battle Royal on RAW.
He has proven time in and time out that you can never count him out and even when he looks dead, he strikes and within an instant he wins.
He is by far the best superstar on Team SmackDown and the most dangerous, and that's saying a lot when The Big Show is on that team. In the heat of controversy Edge is there and I have no doubt that if he doesn't get eliminated within the first 20 minutes of the match, SmackDown will probably win.
For these 10 reasons is why Team SmackDown will have their arms raised after Bragging Rights and they will have for the second year in a row have the bragging rights!
