WWE: Wade Barrett, The Miz and 10 Superstars Bound For Championship Gold

Andrew J. KearneyOct 24, 2010

The WWE is the best wrestling organization in the world bar none.  It has produced some of the greatest competitors in the history of sports entertainment and continues to breed top talent.  Throughout their history, expansion has been a major part of their mission.

From generation to generation, they have adjusted and become one with society.  Without constantly producing new wrestlers to compete, they could be out of business.  In noticing that the torch must be passed, they have been able to grow as a company and stay at the top.

Some of their young talent has turned heads and look to lead the company into the next generation.  This list looks at which wrestlers the WWE will depend on heavily going forward.

Here's a list of the top 10 wrestlers that will hold championship gold someday soon.

10. Dolph Ziggler

1 of 10

Dolph Ziggler has had quite a year on the Friday night B-rated show.  Currently the Intercontinental Champion, Ziggler has become a centerpiece of the Smackdown brand.  This bleach-blond superstar is now ready to take his game to the next level.

With the help of Vickie Guerrero, he has maintained the IC Title for a few months now.  His niche on RAW was vague and Smackdown needed a young superstar of his caliber so the move worked out for both parties.

His efforts as of late have earned him a champion v. champion match at Bragging Rights on Sunday. Ziggler will meet RAW's United States Champion Daniel Bryan in what could be the match of the night.

Bright things surround Ziggler as his stock will only continue to skyrocket.

9. Evan Bourne

2 of 10

Evan Bourne is the top high-flyer in the WWE today.  While Vince McMahon is known to prefer the "big guys" and placing them in the top spots, Bourne should still make some noise in the company for quite some time.  While his career path seems to be in a peculiar spot right now, he's only 27 and has a lot of time to grow.

Bourne has shined in all of the big-time matches he's competed in thus far.  At WrestleMania 26, even in defeat, he left the crowd with some unforgettable moments and went Air Bourne.

Someday, Bourne will hold a major belt in this company.  That day seems to be distant right now but the future is incredibly bright for him.  His presence on RAW is quite impressive as he really lights up Monday nights with his fast-paced matches and electrifying moves.

8. Ted DiBiase Jr.

3 of 10

The Fortunate Son's career ought to be taking off right about now as he should be in the U.S. Title picture. Though not being properly used right now, his time is coming.  Albeit not having been in title contention, one would think that his on-screen relationship with Maryse would suffice.  Yet, even that has been on the ropes as of late.

DiBiase, since being exiled from The Legacy, has never shined through as he'd hoped.  His career is at a standstill right now, but something tells me that he will get on the right path in singles competition.

7. John Morrison

4 of 10

Though Morrison held the ECW belt for quite some time, that title had depreciated greatly since the WWECW commenced.  The old title back in the South Philadelphia bingo hall days meant a whole lot more.  But that's not Morrison's fault and he has still remained relevant in WWE whether on Smackdown or RAW.

But now, Morrison is at the best position of his young career thus far on RAW.  In a short time, he will be competing for the top gold in the WWE and deservedly so.  They've tried to make him the "new" Shawn Michaels, though they should realize that Morrison will never be HBK.  Regardless, Morrison needs to end 2010 big and translate that into 2011 success.

6. Drew McIntyre

5 of 10

Drew McIntyre has been one of the top Smackdown superstars all year long.  He's one of the many future faces of WWE and hopefully can appear on the A-show more often as one-half of the Tag Champions. He's on the rise and has become a consistent title-holder in WWE.

Eventually, Mr. McMahon's "favorite" will become WWE Champion and his career will come full circle. He's still young at 25 and has plenty of time to grow.  His all-around game has been impressive thus far though.

5. Kaval

6 of 10

Kaval, formerly Low Ki in TNA, was the NXT Season 2 winner and has been one of the most exciting WWE superstars ever since.  How often do you hear WWE and TNA in the same sentence?

His acrobats are among the best in wrestling and he's one of the most exciting guys you'll ever see in a WWE ring.  In winning NXT's Season 2, his career is now at its peak and he's facing some of the top competition in the world.  What more could Kaval ask for?  Now, with a shot at the big time, he may actually be able to hoist title gold.

4. Cody Rhodes

7 of 10

Like him or not, Cody Rhodes, now "Dashing," certainly has the genes as we can see in the picture above.  His stint with Legacy made him relevant and now, in partnering with McIntyre he's only continued that and become a top star on the Smackdown brand.

Rhodes is one-of-a-kind and a natural wrestler trained from the "old school."  He is the son of the legendary "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes.

Much like other Legacy members Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase Jr., Rhodes too is indeed the future of this company.

3. Wade Barrett

8 of 10

Nexus leader Wade Barrett has become a force in WWE over the past year and one of its top stars.  He's the unquestionable leader of the most dangerous faction in recent memory, and as a unit the Nexus is getting stronger by the week.  Now with John Cena incorporated into the storyline, Barrett's star status will only shine brighter.  Hey, even without Cena, this man will be competing for the WWE Title this evening against Randy Orton.

Barrett is a great athlete for his size, and one day very soon, possibly on this day as I'm writing this in fact, he will become WWE Champion.

2. Daniel Bryan

9 of 10

Daniel Bryan is without a doubt one of the best wrestlers of the past five years no matter where he was fighting.  Yet, fortunately WWE noticed this and put him on NXT's Season 1.  Even after he was smitten from the company after his infamous tie-choking incident, he was brought back and utilized even better.

Currently the U.S. Champion, Bryan is about this close to really taking off.  He is an amazing ring tactician and tells great stories in his matches.  In watching Bryan, we true wrestling fans can appreciate his talent.  McMahon was smart to pick Bryan back up and now its paying off big time.  Look for Bryan to be Champion in the very near future.

1. The Miz

10 of 10

From "hoorah" to "AWESOME!" this man has been through it all.  It's safe to say that The Miz has come an incredibly long way over the past decade or so.  He was an MTV Real World personality back in 2001 and gained popularity that way.  Then, he tried his hand in WWE and became an interviewer for them after enduring Tough Enough.

Now, only five short years later, he is among the top superstars in WWE and its most engaging character. It's a fair bet to say that within the next few months, he will hold WWE gold.  He has taken the ball and sprinted away with it thus far.  We hate to admit it, but we love him.  He's The MIZ and he is indeed...AWEEEESOMMMMEEEE!!
