WWE Bragging Rights Odds: Breaking Down The Randy Orton Vs. Wade Barrett Match

Joe M.Oct 19, 2010

In this slideshow we'll be breaking down the Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett (with John Cena) WWE Championship Match set to take place at WWE's Bragging Right's pay-per-view on October 24, 2010.  I've listed five key aspects that will influence the outcome of this match and, who I think will be walking away with the WWE Championship.

You can leave any thoughts, comments, questions, or concerns in the comments below.  Who you think will win, what role you think Cena will play in this match, and any other reactions to the slideshow you can leave down in the comments.

The Reign Of Randy Orton

1 of 6

Do we really want to see another quick title reign?  The last long WWE Championship reign was John Cena's 1 year reign from September 2006 - October 2007.  It seems as though every reign since then has not been long enough.  I know I speak for quite a few people when I say we would like to see a long WWE Championship reign, and Randy Orton can pull that off.  Have Orton hold onto the belt through WrestleMania, maybe even longer, after all, WrestleMania is only 5 months away.  While the likelihood of another year-long reign is not great, they don't have to end Orton's reign after only one and a half months.

Why Throw The WWE Title Into The Nexus/Cena Feud?

2 of 6

Wade Barrett (along with the whole Nexus) and John Cena have a great storyline going on now between them, it's a non-title storyline and it is still the main feud on Raw, and the feud that the fans are the most interested in.  Why throw the WWE Championship in the middle of it all?  Sure, it may add a little more depth to the storyline, but then then what will Randy Orton and the other main eventers like Sheamus have matches over?   The bottom line is that the John Cena vs. Nexus feud does not need the WWE Championship thrown into it, and the title needs to be used for other feuds to make them interesting.

John Cena Is in Barrett's Corner

3 of 6

John Cena is in Wade Barrett's corner "supporting" him as the newest member of The Nexus.  Cena will obviously play some role in the outcome of this match, the question is will he help or hurt Barrett.  On one hand you have the fact that Cena does not want to be a member of The Nexus, which would indicate that Cena would screw Barrett over.  On the other hand you have the fact that the mystery Raw General Manager told Cena if he doesn't obey Barrett, he will be fired, which would indicate that Cena would reluctantly help Wade defeat Orton.  Regardless of whether he will help or hurt Barrett, we know that Cena won't just be playing 6-foot, 200+ pound cheerleader here (and if he is playing cheerleader, someone tell Brett Favre he's not available).

Do They Want To Give Wade Barrett The WWE Championship?

4 of 6

I have nothing against Barrett, as a matter of fact, I think he is great.  I would be all for giving him the WWE Championship, however would WWE put the title on a guy who made his debut just earlier this year?  Barrett is established as a main eventer and he probably woul have no problem pulling off a title reign perfectly, however in the back of WWE's mind they know he is still, more or less, a rookie.  They put the belt on Sheamus out of the blue, though, and it worked out of him, so anything is possible.  This isn't as prominent a factor towards the outcome of the match as all the other reasons, but I felt it should be noted.

Randy Orton Is The New Face Of WWE

5 of 6

Ok, maybe he isn't the new poster-boy, but if he isn't then who is?  Sure, you can say John Cena, but right now it seems like WWE is pushing Orton as the top guy in all of WWE.  If WWE is in fact getting behind Orton as the new face of WWE, as the "Stone Cold" of the next few years, then it is only logical to have Orton hold on to the WWE Championship.

In Conclusion

6 of 6

In the end, I see Randy Orton walking away with the WWE Championship.  This definitely is not an easy one to call and I wouldn't be shocked it Barrett does win, but I have to go with Orton here.
