It was a season in which stars realigned on the WTA Tour.Serena Williams played just six tournaments, but won two Grand Slam titles before a foot injury sidelined her, costing her the World No. 1 ranking. Caroline Wozniackisucceeded Serena as new World No. 1, 29-year-old Francesca Schiavone became the first Italian woman to win a major as she swept Samantha Stosur in the French Open final and Kim Clijsters solidified her status as the toughest tennis mom in the world in successfully defending her US Open championship.

Some players suffered near-misses — Justine Henin launched her comeback and led Serena in the Australian Open final before Williams stormed back to win her second straight Oz Open crown — and some reached new heights: Vera Zvonareva, who underwent surgery last season, advanced to the Wimbledon singles and doubles finals and the US Open final.

As the WTA Tour reaches its climax with the WTA Tour Championships in Doha this month, several top 10 players reflect on their seasons in this video interview.
