The Gunners come into this Champions League fixture fresh from the 2-1 victory at home to Birmingham where Jack Wilshire was red carded near the end of the game.

Arsene Wenger will be relieved that his suspension will not affect this Arsenal vs Shakhtar match, as he was quite clearly the best man on the pitch again, and is improving with every kick-off.

Shakhtar are beginning to run away with the title in Ukraine, which is possibly largely due to the amount of Brazilians and top international players they have.

This weekend saw them win 2-0 away to Metalurg in the Donetsk derby quite comfortably, and the Ukranian side will be looking forward to facing Arsenal at the top of their form.

Prediction

The two teams have only faced each other twice in this competition, back in 2000, where Shakhtar narrowly lost 3-2 away at the Emirates but soundly won 3-0 at home.

However, Arsenal have already scored nine goals in the Champions League this season and with Shakhtar's Douglas Costa likely to miss the game combined with the Gunner's great home form in this competition, the outcome is likely to be a one sided affair.

However, Croatian striker Eduardo will likely do all he can to steer Donetsk to victory, as he is returning to the Emirates for the first time since his departure in the summer transfer window.
