5 Men That Could Help TNA Take On "The Immortals"

Abyss had teased the revelation of "they" for a couple of months and at Bound For Glory he duly delivered. "They" turned out to be Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Abyss, Jeff Jarrett and new World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy.

On the last week's iMPACT! "they" were joined by Fortune to create a new super stable; The Immortals. It will take several brave men to take them on as they have such strength in numbers, but here I look at five people that could possibly take them on on behalf of TNA and Dixie Carter.

1. The Pope D'Angelo Dinero

The Pope aligned himself with Sting and Kevin Nash a couple of weeks ago as they warned everybody that things weren’t exactly as they seemed in TNA. At Bound For Glory they were proved right as Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan were revealed to be a part of “they” that Abyss had been taking orders from.

On last week’s iMPACT, Nash and Sting turned down the chance to join the new Immortals stable and decided to walk out on TNA and left Pope on his own to face Fortune five-on-one in a losing effort. Nash is legitimately done with TNA after his contract ran out following Bound For Glory. Sting’s contract doesn’t run out until the end of the year, but it’s unlikely that it’ll be extended so Pope will have to find some other guys to run with.

2. Samoa Joe

Joe answered the calls of Jeff Jarrett who wanted somebody to help him shut up Nash, Sting and Pope. Jarrett claimed that they were disrupting TNA and causing rifts in the locker room. The real reason, we now know, was because Jarrett knew they were on to something as “The King of the Mountain” was revealed to be a part of “they.”

During their handicap match at Bound For Glory, Jarrett left Joe high and dry as he refused a tag from the “Samoan Submission Machine” and Joe was left to fight on, three-on-one. Nash soon hit him with a Jackknife Powerbomb to get the win for his side.

We saw a video of Joe on last week’s iMPACT! in which he said he would get Jarrett back. But with Double J now also feuding with Kurt Angle, Joe may have to turn his intentions to The Immortals instead.

3. Rob Van Dam

Van Dam probably has the most to feel aggrieved about. He was put out of action and subsequently stripped of his World Heavyweight Championship because of Abyss’ violent attack. RVD was also good friends with Jeff Hardy, who turned heel at Bound For Glory and became the new World Champion.

After the match, RVD entered the ring and asked Hardy what was going on, but was met with a title belt to the head. RVD, who demanded a title shot against the newly crowned champ, faced Mr. Anderson on iMPACT with the winner becoming the No. 1 contender for Hardy’s World Title. We didn’t get a result though due to Hardy’s interference and he delivered a devastating Twist of Fate onto a steel chair. RVD will rightly want revenge on Hardy, and this could lead to RVD wanting a piece of the Immortals.

4. Mr. Anderson

As mentioned just now, Anderson was involved in the iMPACT! Main event to determine the challenger for Jeff Hardy’s World Championship but we had no winner. Anderson was also on the receiving end of a nasty attack by Hardy after the match; Hardy hit a Twist of Fate on RVD onto a steel chair which had Anderson’s arm in it at the time.

Rewind just a week and Anderson had been attacked again. In the main event at Bound For Glory, “they” revealed themselves and Hardy hit Anderson with one of Hulk Hogan’s crutches to help him become World Champion.

If Anderson can recover from his painful looking injury, then he will want to extract some form of revenge on Hardy and The Immortals.

5. EV2.0

I know they’re not one person, but I have included them as I see them playing a key role in this storyline.

On the last week’s iMPACT! Fortune officially united with “they” to form The Immortals. EV2.0 had been in a hard-fought battle with Fortune, dating back to Hardcore Justice, a one-night only reunion show for the old ECW talent. Fortune didn’t agree with it though and attacked them shortly afterwards. Since then, both sides have exchanged beat-downs and victories with EV2.0 picking up the latest win at Bound For Glory in their Lethal Lockdown match.

We haven’t seen EV2.0 since then but you can bank on them returning—even without the recently released Rhino—to help take on The Immortals.
