NFL Week 6 Awards: Top Performer, Biggest Hits, Best Team and More

Eric StrellerOct 18, 2010

The GTFO “Performer(s) of the Week”

The GTFO “Performer(s) of the Week” Award goes to the individual(s) that had the most productive week.

  • Kevin Kolb- Kolb made the quarterback controversy in Philadelphia relevant again. Atlanta was supposed to be the best team in the NFC heading into Week 6, but Kolb led the Eagles to a 31-17 victory. He threw for 326 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. His 326 yards were more than any other QB on Sunday
  • Ryan Torain- Torain went from a hot waiver wire pick up just a couple weeks ago to one of this weeks top performers. He got 20 carries for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Even in the loss, Torain was the bright spot on the Redskins team. I know the Colts run defense is bad, but look for Torain to make an impact week in and week out moving forward.

The GTFO “Surprise(s) of the Week”

The GTFO “Surprise(s) of the Week” are awarded to the players, teams, or coaches that did something that was unexpected.

  • Chris Ivory- Do you even know who Ivory is? Here’s ESPN.com’s fantasy advice for him for Week 6. “Ivory is not the answer if Pierre Thomas can’t go. Heck, he couldn’t even outperform Ladell Betts.” Ivory rushed for a league high 158 yards on 15 carries and had one catch for 17 yards. Maybe he is the answer, as he helped the Saints to a 31-6 victory over Tampa Bay.

The GTFO “Idiot(s) of the Week”

The GTFO “Idiots of the Week” Award goes to the players, coaches, or teams who proved to make a fool of themselves and/or their team.

  • Dallas Cowboys- I promise everyone I’m not a Dallas Cowboys hater, even though nearly every week someone from the Cowboys make this list. This time, it’s the WHOLE team. Dallas once again committed double digit penalties on Sunday with 11 for 91 yards. Penalties simply come down to discipline and coaching and it’s not getting any better from week to week. Dallas has 2000 yards of total offense through five games. They now have 49 penalties for 404 yards. When penalties equal one-fifth of total offense, things can’t be good. The Cowboys record reflects that.

The GTFO “Team(s) of the Week”

The GTFO “Team(s) of the Week” Award goes to the team that looked the best during the given week.

  • New England Patriots- We were just 1:27 away from having our first tie since 2008. This was a physical game and both teams played well. The Patriots had six guys with at least a carry to out-rush the Ravens and Tom Brady threw for seven more yards than Joe Flacco. In this battle of one loss teams, New England came out on top, making them the Team of the Week.

NFL GTFO “Get You Some Hit(s) of the Week”

The NFL GTFO “Get You Some Hit(s) of the Week” goes to the person who had the most devastating hit of the week.

  • In this week’s installment of biggest hits, we’re going to show you the proper way to hit someone and the illegal way. First off, you’ll see Darrelle Revis lay Eddie Royal out. Notice, that this was a perfect hard hit. The next is Dunta Robinson, who illegally hit DeSean Jackson by leading with his helmet. In the first hit, both players were okay. In the second, both players were not. Robinson and Jackson are both uncertain for next week.Click the links to watch the videos.

NFL GTFO “Milestone of the Week”

The NFL GTFO “Milestone of the Week” goes to the individual or team that reached the most important milestone of the week.

  • Tim Tebow and Dez Bryant- Both Tebow and Bryant scored their first offensive touchdowns of the season on Sunday. Bryant had run a punt back earlier in the season, but this was his first receiving touchdown. It will be the first of many in Bryant’s career, but it is yet to be seen whether we’ll see Tebow cross the goal line frequently during his career.
