England Saved by Joe Cole's Injury Time Equaliser

Joe Cole scored in injury time to save Fabio Capello's blushes and ensure England ended their preparations for the World Cup qualifiers with a 2-2 draw.

Capello would've wanted to go into his first competitive game in charge against Andorra with a win, but will now have a settle for a hard-fought draw.

Milan Baros opened the scoring for the Czechs, but Wes Brown equalised just before the break. AC Milan's Marek Jankulovski then put the Czechs ahead shortly after the interval, before Joe Cole struck right at the end to give England an un-deserved 2-2 draw.

The Czech Republic took the lead on 22 minutes, when Milan Baros' shot from 10 yards was deflected in by Ashley Cole, wrong footing keeper David James.

England equalised one minute before the break however, with Manchester United's Wes Brown scoring his first ever international goal. The right-back climbed the highest and headed home following David Beckham's corner.

However, just three minutes after the interval, England were undone again when a moment of magic left David James motionless.

Gareth Barry lunged into a reckless challenge to give the Czechs a free kick 25 yards out. Up stepped left-footed superstar Marek Jankulovski, who curled an exquisite shot into the top left-hand corner.

As the clock wore down, it would've seemed England were condemned to a defeat under new captain John Terry. But that was not to be as Joe Cole saved the day for England, netting in from close range to spare England's blushes.

The result now means Fabio Capello will go into his first competitive match as England manager on the back of wins against Switzerland, USA, Trinidad and Tobago, a loss against France back in March, and this rather unconvincing draw against Czech Republic.
