San Francisco 49ers: Takeo Spikes Leads the Niners To Their First Victory
In what turned into a one-way defensively dominated game, the San Francisco 49ers showed a vision of what Mike Singletary wants them to be.
Alex Smith only had one job today, which was to not turn the ball over, and he did it masterfully. He even took two intentional grounding penalties in a concerted effort to stay on the field.
Frank Gore broke his first BIG run all year and was aided by a block downfield by Josh Morgan.

The game ball however goes to Takeo Spikes, who picked a ball off to clinch the game without even fumbling it! That's a VAST improvement.
Singletary looked like a good coach. He begged Smith to produce something for him at the end of the second quarter, and it worked as Joe Nedney's field goal cut the deficit to 6-3 at halftime. Smith threw for two touchdowns in the second half.
