NFL Picks Against the Spread: Week 6 Record to Date Is 40-36

Thomas MorelandOct 16, 2010

In Week 5 the NFL still had the upsets coming in, but keeping that in mind led to a winning record last week.

The better teams will start showing some separation from the pack in the next few weeks and the playoff picture becomes clearer.

The Chicago Bears should get a win at home against Seattle and a touchdown's difference is likely in this game. The Bears are a strong pick giving only 6.5 points.

Green Bay has struggled offensively this season after being touted as a Super Bowl favorite. Miami has plenty of offense to put up decent points.

Seven points may be too many as the Dolphins defense may surprise people in this game. Take the Dolphins getting seven points this week.

San Diego should have no problem dominating a nicked-up Stephen Jackson and the Rams as they win by 10-14 points in this game. The spread is nine and that is attainable for the Chargers.

New England has the Baltimore Ravens visiting and I like the Ravens defense to maintain control over the running, forcing some forced throws by Brady. The Ravens get three points visiting, and this is my small upset pick of the week.

The Giants have Detroit in the Meadowlands with a 10-point number against a team that won 44-7 last week. I know it's the Rams they beat but there is improvement in Detroit now. Take the points and see if Detroit can keep this a manageable game heading into the fourth quarter.

I like Atlanta to show the league they are ready for prime time beating Philadelphia on the road. Philadelphia is favored by 2.5 points.

This game will switch up and Atlanta wins by three.

The Steelers are huge favorites over Cleveland and Roethlisberger makes his return to the lineup. Heath Miller should get some work in today, as the Steelers cruise to a win by 10-12 points.

This is a division game and a heated rivalry. 13.5 points is too many. Take Cleveland this week.

New Orleans has Tampa Bay in one of the easier picks of the week. Lock this one up in the vault as the Saints cover four with no problem.

Houston should have enough firepower to cool off Kansas City even more this week with a second loss in a row for the Chiefs. Houston by five should be a no-brainer this week also.

The Jets travel to the thin air of mile-high Denver, and get sent packing back to New York. Denver gets an upset win here. I'm sure of it.

The 49ers look for their first win of the 2010 season and get it against the Raiders. I think the Raiders will keep this game close and for that reason I like Oakland and the 6.5 points this week.

The Vikings play Dallas in a do-or-die situation for both clubs this weekend as both are 1-3. Dallas gets the win here as the sports press and public clamor for Brett Favre to surrender and go home to Mississippi.

The Colts are my survivor and eliminator picks this week and will beat the Redskins by three or more.

Tennessee takes care of Jacksonville on Monday Night Football and I will be right on with 10-11 wins this week out of 14 games.

All good now as I was running a bit behind this week.
