WWE Superstars 10/14/10 Review: Double Divas Delight

Graham GSM MatthewsOct 15, 2010

1. Kelly Kelly w/ Natalya def. Divas Champion Layla w/ Michelle McCool (non-title)

-Nothing much to say about this match, just mediocre. I'm not saying that in a bad way, but it was pretty much what we saw on Smackdown last week, and it's not the same Divas crap we usually see.

Liked Kelly Kelly getting the win as she needed to avenge her loss from last week, but not in the title picture. OK finish, and hopefully it will help build to a better Natayla-McCool match-up than what we saw at Hell in a Cell.

2. Curt Hawkins def. Trent Baretta

-This was an OK show, and this match wasn't great but it was good enough to make Match of the Night in my opinion. I was surprised to see Hawkins work better alone than in a tag team, more surprised to see Hawkins get his awesome old theme back, and even MORE surprised to see Baretta get some sort of reaction when he came out. That means his on-air appearances are working and the crowd is getting used to him.

Anyway, there were some very nice spots in this match, and Baretta is an awesome singles competitor. I'm loving Hawkins as a singles competitor that was way overdue, and he absolutely nailed that elbow. The only miss I have for this match is that Archer didn't get involved at all, which either makes no sense or they aren't feuding. But that was a very small miss, and this match makes me to watch some more of Curt Hawkins.

3. Darren Young def. Primo

-In an absolute opposite of the previous match, the crowd didn't care at all for either wrestler. Hell, Darren Young even got booed when he's supposed to be a face! I find that unfortunate, because after last week I was starting to like Darren Young and his charisma.

The finish was OK but plain. Good win for Young, but I think the fans care more for Primo based on recent comments. I want to see Young be pushed, but if his popularity is crap, Primo would be the better choice.

4. Melina def. Alicia Fox

-Out of all their recent matches together since Melina's return, I say this was their best one. Alicia Fox looked strong in this match, They pulled out some great moves, especially Fox with that great reversal of the sun-set flip.

Nice win for Melina to get some momentum back as she has been taken out of the spot light as of late. Good finish to show something different from the Divas. Also nice to see some respect to the Divas by letting them have the main event.

Final Review: A decent show, but nothing really that stood out since it was more of a jobber-Diva show. It was mediocre as in-ring goes, and it was better not to show as much recaps as they usually do. Hopefully, next week will focus more on mid-card talent.
