NFL Quick Picks: Week 6
Well I hope no one made actual bets on my picks last week, I was absolutely dreadful. 6-8 last week bringing down my overall record to 45-32, not bad but like the Cowboys’ 1-3 record, I’m better than that.
So this week, gambling community, I make it up to you.
Baring a higher than average number of upsets this week I should be golden.
So sit back and enjoy the ride.

The walking wounded Green Bay Packers welcome the Miami Dolphins to Lambeau Field.
When I looked at the schedule before week one I thought this was going to be a clash of division leaders, and possibly a Super Bowl preview.
My perception, however, has changed.
The Dolphins have yet to beat anyone of note (their two wins coming against the win-less Bills, and hapless Vikings), however they are coming off a bye-week and have had extra time to prepare for the Packers.
The Packers' players have been dropping like flies the past couple of weeks, and their biggest star, Aaron Rodgers suffered a concussion last week in a loss to the Washington Redskins. My pick hinders on whether or not Rodgers plays.
If he plays, Pack win at home 24-9, if he does not play Dolphins win an ugly one 16-6.

How about them Giants the last two weeks? They are just laying the smack down on everyone since that embarrassing loss to the Colts.
And this week they draw the Lions.
Sure the Lions are better this year than the past several, but they're still not that good and Shaun Hill is going to be running for his life.
The Giants continue the smack down train, 49-3.

It's a good thing the Seattle Seahawks picked up Marshawn Lynch because they're going to need to run the ball well to slow down the Bears pass rush.
Even if they are successful at that they still won't put up enough points to slow down Matt Forte as he shows the league that he is up there with the elite running backs.
Unlike the Packers, this week it doesn't matter for the Bears if their starter Jay Cutler is back under center after suffering a concussion to the Giants two-weeks ago because I think the Bears have finally realized the road the the NFC North title is on the back of Forte.
Bears win 20-10.

Tampa Bay is going to give their best effort against the defending champs, but I'm still not sold on the Bucs being a contender, yet.
A win from them will change my mind, but like Ric Flair always said, "To be the man, you have to beat the man."
And the Saints are the "Man".
Saints win a close one 27-24.

The Atlanta Falcons just might be the hottest team in the NFC right now. Their only loss game in overtime in week one at the Steelers (so they have that going for them) and they travel to city of brotherly lover to face the Philadelphia Eagles.
Michael Vick is doing his best to get healthy for this game but for all you fantasy owners out there I wouldn't count on him being ready. Even if he was I still wouldn't pick against the Falcons this week.
The Dirty Birds win 20-13.

The Chiefs finally saw their undefeated streak come to an end in Indy last week and this Sunday will begin a new streak, a losing one as the Chiefs will fall to the Texans (if they don't I'm done picking the Texans), 27-17.

Last week Sam Bradford lost his favorite target, Mark Clayton, for the season (I take full responsibility since I added Clayton to my roster the Friday before the game) and being a rookie quarterback that could really hinder his productivity.
Philip Rivers on the other hand still has Antonio Gates and put up over 400 yards in a loss.
The Chargers are a desperate team right now, they're watching their season slip away, they're going to air the ball out early to try and put this game away by half time.
Chargers win in a route, 45-14.

Big Ben makes his triumphant return to Heinz Field this Sunday, and he couldn't pick a better opponent than the lowly Browns.
I doubt their will be any rust on the big man's arm, and even if their is, there is always Rashard Mendenhall to hand the ball to. Not to mention the stingiest defense in the NFL.
I see no way rookie Colt McCoy rallies the troops to victory, but in this year's NFL you never know.
The Steelers with Big Ben are going to light it up, 28-6.

Without Randy Moss I just don't see how the Patriots are going to score enough points on this Ravens' defense.
Couple that with Ray Rice having a break out game last week and look for the Ravens to fly high with a 17-13 victory.

Last week we all saw what happened to the Broncos' passing attack when they faced a good defense, well it doesn't get any easier. Even if Revis Island doesn't suite up Antonio Cromartie is showing that he is becoming an island all to himself.
Jets win 20-17.

This past week I wrote an article on why Alex Smith should not be benched in favor of David Carr (as if I really needed to explain myself there), and San Fransisco isn't as bad as their 0-5 record.
Oakland is riding high off of their big upset over division rival San Diego, however in this battle of the Bay I've got to go with the 49ers (Holy crap this is the 4th time I've picked the Niners, I need to stop that) only because I think Smith is finally on the same page with Davis and Crabtree.
Also the Niners don't loose that game if Gore doesn't fumble twice and he won't this week.
Niners finally get their first win of the season 31-20.

A Dallas friend of mine asked me yesterday who I was going to pick in this game.
I told her had she asked me before the fourth quarter of the Monday Night game I would have said Dallas without hesitation.
However when the Vikings offense exploded and almost won the game we all got a glimpse of what could be with this team.
I told her I was just going to flip a coin to decide the winner. Heads Vikings win, tails the "W" goes to the Cowboys.
Ok, here goes...
And it's a tails (damn)
So Cowboys win, by, um, 3, I guess.

This game seemed like a no brainer at the beginning of the season, but the Redskins improve each week it seems and the Colts don't seem like the dominate team they've been the past several seasons.
Last week I went with my gut and picked my Skins to win, and I was pretty damn close I said it would be a game winning Gano field goal 17-14, and I was just a point off for both teams.
This week my gut tells me the Skins have a chance, but I'm going to go with my head this week (hopefully my gut is two for two). It's just hard to pick against Peyton Manning when going against a suspect secondary.
Colts win 27-14.

Folks Chris Johnson is just getting started this season and he and his Titans travel to Jacksonville to face the streaking Jaguars.
Jacksonville is better than I thought they were, but I see CJ2 running all over the place.
Titans win on Monday Night Football 21-10.
That's All Folks

Well folks, enjoy the games on Sunday and Monday, and I promise you these picks are much better than last weeks. Though I hope I'm wrong about the Skins and Vikings.
