Indianapolis Colts Vs. Washington Redskins Betting Odds and Pick
Sunday's NFL betting comes to a conclusion with a match-up featuring two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Peyton Manning and the 3-2 Indianapolis Colts head the the nation's capital to take on Donovan McNabb and the 3-2 Washington Redskins. The Redskins will be playing as the always dangerous home underdog as online betting giant Sportsbook.com has the Colts vs. Redskins point spread holding steady at Indy -3 points.
For the minority of the football betting population that finds value in backing home dogs, it has been a very profitable football season thus far. Heading into NFL Week 6, home teams that were point spread underdogs are 19-10-1 against the spread (ATS). Even more impressive, they won 17 of those games outright – the point spread didn't matter.

Despite these one-sided numbers, the NFL betting public continues to put their money on the home favorite. After looking at the NFL Week 6 betting odds, there are five games in which the home team is the underdog. In each of the five games, the sports betting public is backing the road favorite. For the Colts vs. Redskins game, an overwhelming 89 percent of Sportsbook.com bettors are on Indy -3.
Year in -year out, the Colts are always amongst the league leaders in team offense and this year is no different. Currently they rank second in the NFL in yardage (397 Yds/G) and third in scoring (27.2 PPG). Even so, they are pretty much one dimensional, relying solely on Manning and the passing attack. On the ground they rank 28th, mustering up just 79.8 Yds/G, with an average of just 3.2 yards per carry. They will most likely struggle trying to establish a running game again Sunday night as running back Joseph Addai is banged up with a neck injury and is listed as questionable.
After looking at Washington's defensive statistics, something very interesting jumps off the page. Although they rank dead last in the entire NFL in yards surrendered (410.2 Yds/G), they give up only 18.4 PPG – good enough for ninth best in the NFL.
When trying to decide who to bet on for this match-up it all comes down to looking at how each team has played so far and comparing to their preseason expectations.
The Colts already have lost two road games this season despite being favorites. Although they were Sportsbook.com's preseason favorite to win the Super Bowl, they lost outright to the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars despite being favored in each game.
The Redskins, on the other hand, are coming off of two impressive wins. A 17-12 victory over NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles and a 16-13 victory over the Green Bay Packers. In each of those games their opponent was able to compile some decent amount of yardage, but had issues putting points on the scoreboard. Philly and Green Bay are two of the better scoring teams in the NFL, ranking seventh and eighth respectively. Versus Washington both teams had their lowest scoring outings of the season.
