Must See TV: 5 NFL Games in Week 6 That Need to Be Seen

Terrance JacksonOct 13, 2010

Week 5 in the NFL season was a week of good match-ups and a few big story lines, well week 6 is going to be much better. Week 6 has great football match-ups and enormous story lines.

These are 5 games that I consider to be some the best so far in this young NFL season. There are divisions, rivalries, and seasons at stake this week. Many teams will make their beds this week, some will toss and turn, while some will sleep like babies.

I will discuss and predict the out come of these 5 important games, lets begin.

Battle for No. 1

STORY LINE

Hard to believe that we are talking about a game that would put the winner atop the AFC South and the Colts aren't involved. Hard but true as the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Tennessee Titans for the No. 1 spot in the AFC south. Each team is tied at 3-2, but the winner of this game will have the most division wins at two.

PREVIEW

The Titans are coming off a huge win against Dallas 34-27. In a game where Vince Young had only 173 passing yards, but was mostly handing it off to Chris Johnson who had over a hundred yards for the first time this season. The Titans also terrorized Tony Romo by sacking him 6 times and look to keep that up in a win vs the rival Jaguars.

Jacksonville aims to make it three wins in a row as they are set to stop the Titans this week. The Jags ran the rock really well against the Bills with three rushers over 50 yards as they ran for 10 first downs in the game. Garrard has throw 5 touchdowns and just one interception in the last two games and needs to have that kind of success against the Titans.

PREDICTION

The Jags offensive has been explosive at times, but in their two losses they were out scored 16-66. The Titans two losses were close games in which the Titans just let slip away and bounced back from each loss with a win.

I see the Titans D line crushing David Garrard and forcing him into some turnovers. The Jags run game will be stuffed by a fast and furious Titan defense.

Titans get the upper hand in the division with a 27-17 win.

The Difference Between 3-2 and 3-2

STORY LINE

Both the Washington Redskins and Indianapolis Colts are both 3-2, but in completely different positions. The Redskins are in a good position at 3-2 as they are No. 1 in the NFC East and a perfect 2-0 in the division. The Colts are in a bad position, well by Colts standards 3-2 is a bad position. Indy is 3rd in AFC South and 0-2 in their division as the Jags and Titans duke it out for No. 1.  But if either team loses they won't be too worse for the wear.

PREVIEW

The Colts come in to this game after knocking off the last unbeaten when they beat the Chiefs 19-9. Though the Colts get over 300 yards a game in the air, they have not been getting the balance by showing a run game that get 79 yards a game only worth 28th in the NFL. They also have had trouble stopping other teams running attacks giving up 142.2 yards rushing a game, 29th in the NFL.

The Skins and McNabb are smiling big as they go in Philly and take control of the NFC East as McNabb gets his revenge vs his old team. The Redskins have been winning with defense and good game managing by McNabb as he and the offense hasn't been able to score 20 in any of their victories. Though They may have found a back that fits their system great with the emergence of Ryan Torain. The Redskins D has been good only giving up 18 points a game, good for 9th in the NFL.

PREDICTION

The Skins have been good this season and will probably go on to win the NFC East, but this will not be one of their wins. I don't see Peyton Manning and the Colts going back to .500 any more this season as this win is just one of many for them in the future.

The Colts eek out a 27-24 win.

Former Falcon Vick Flies Back to Atlanta As an Eagle

STORY LINE

This game has the potential to be the best must see game if Michael Vick plays, but will still be very interesting if he doesn't. If Vick doesn't play then that means young Kevin Kolb gets his second straight start and after his impressive showing vs the 49ers, this could still be a great game. Atlanta is smoking hot and is a top 5 football team looking to make a statement. Matt Ryan is a pretty good quarterback himself and will not care if Vick plays or not as he is just looking to win.

PREVIEW

The Eagles I'm sure are hoping for Michael Vick to play this game as he is still recovering from his rib injury. The team has been much more explosive with Vick at the helm scoring 35 and 28 points in the games he started. Though Kolb has looked better as he played great in the game against San Fran, when he was 21-31 for 253 yards and a touchdown in the win. LeSean McCoy is playing great and is the only player in the NFL with 300 yards rushing and 200 yards receiving.

Hotlanta has been just that hot as they have won four games in a row and looking extremely good as they do it with a win over the defending champ Saints in the SuperDome. The Falcons have the second best rushing attack in the NFL at over 148 a game. The defense has been great as they are in the top 10 in points allowed, total yards, and rush defense. Matt Ryan has been great this year as he has 7 touchdowns and only three picks and he is leading this Falcon team.

PREDICTION

This is a two part-er, if Vick plays I see the Eagles winning as Vick plays super motivated and beats the dirty birds 31-28. But if Kolb gets the start the Falcons get the 24-20 win as they fly though this season.

Grit Vs Wit: Belichick Vs Harbaugh

STORY LINE

There are two totally different philosophies being used on the opposite sidelines, as the genius of Bill Belichick's Pats is put up against the toughness of John Harbaugh and his Ravens. The one thing the two coaches have in common is they can win games. This will be the best game of the day from an on the field standpoint as the two teams will go at each others throats. This game will prove to be the best of the week 6 slate.

PREVIEW

The New England Patriots made a two trades last week both involving wide receivers, the first was to get rid of Randy Moss, the second was to fill the void with Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch back into the fold. The New look Pats are the NFL's highest scoring team at 31.8 a game, but that was with Randy Moss drawing a lot of double coverages time to see how they do with out him. Tom Brady is used to not having star wide receivers and will just go back to spreading the ball around(which he has been doing all year which sparked the Moss trade). He has found a ground game as BenJarvus Green-Ellis(product of New Orleans,LA) and Green-Ellis has been great this season with 215 yards at 4.6 yards a carry.

Baltimore has been arguably playing the best football in the NFL as they are 4-1 and best in the AFC North. Though Ray Rice has been banged up, the Ravens offense has been moving along. Quarterback Joe Flacco has been given a new toy named Anquan Boldwin and Flacco uses it a lot. Boldwin has 28 grabs, 363 yards, and 3 TDS and been the main target this season. But you can't talk Ravens with out talking about the defense, which is just at vicious as they are top 5 in points allowed, total yards, and passing yards. They look to get in Brady's face and force some turnovers.

PREDICTION

I have the Ravens making it hard for Tom Brady and the Pats offense to move the ball as the Ravens get the W in a great game.

The Pats miss Moss as the Ravens win 20-17

STORY LINE

Boy oh boy! Where should I start? This game has more story lines than a day time soap, and with prime time diva Bret Favre and all of his public woes this season this one is going to be the definition of must watch. The Cowboys are on the way to the grave yard if they can't get this win and with big Super Bowl talk before the season, maybe some changes at the coaching position are needed. Oh and the Vikings traded for some guy last week named Randy Moss,  no big deal just thought I'd mention it. Then Bret Favre's streak is in danger since he injured his bicep Monday night and has talked about missing the game.

PREVIEW

The Vikings have been extremely disappointing this season a year removed from the NFC championship game now struggling to stay in the hunt. Bret Favre has been pretty average this season with 5 TDs and 7 interceptions after a 33 TDs and 7 INTs last year. Adrian Peterson has been a monster this season with 480 rushing yards and his 5.5 yard a carry is keeping the Vikings afloat. Lets not forget the addition of Randy Moss to the offense, he had a good game vs the Jets and is looking to have a better game as he enters week two as a Viking.

The Cowboys had Super Bowl admirations coming into the season as this years game is in big D, but they are making it hard on themselves with a 1-3 start. The Cowboys had one great game this year vs the Texans when the manhandled the other team from Texas 27-13. Tony Romo has been slightly above average this season as he is 3rd in the NFL in completion percentage. Romo and the Cowboy offense has been accused of not running the ball enough, and with Felix Jones averaging 5.1 yards a carry that may be something they look at. The defense has been pretty good in every statistic except one and its the most important, points allowed. The Cowboys are giving up 21.8 PPG which is 21st in the NFL.

PREDICTION

We saw a glimpse of what the Vikings offense can do as they looked really good vs the Jets great D in the second half. Dallas just has not been able to put it together and is not playing like the team they can be.

Give me the Vikings 34-30 as Bret Favre gets the media off his back a little with a W.
