2010-11 NBA All Overrated Team

monty squareOct 13, 2010

Gathering from NBA fan and media speculation on the upcoming season, here is your 12-man team of overrated players. These guys may have been awesome before or may soon be awesome but at the moment, the average NBA fan is seeming to overlook all their obvious weaknesses in favor of hopeful thinking.

starting C - Brook Lopez - His statistics may resemble Yao Ming's after two seasons, but then again he is on the Nets. The team played him 37 mpg last year and will play him more. His defense is suspect and his rebounding is weak for so many minutes and his statistics are amped up because of the team he is on.

starting PF - Chris Bosh - Having to defer to LeBron and Wade may be easier for him than you think, but he is still a rather weak PF. Hopefully the others will toughen him up and by the postseason he better be a stronger, and more cerebral player.

starting SF - Danny Granger - This scoring machine is almost always injured and is seemingly a roster risk. Of course, he plays for the abysmal Pacers who would shove any other player aside to get Granger in the game. He averaged 2.8 assists per game last year....so is that a smart move Pacers? Do not build your hopes on him.

starting SG - Kobe Bryant - The Lakers and their fans and Kobe himself seem to think losing in the preseason is excusable and funny. It's not. Neither is Kobe's current 11.1% shooting from the field and 0/6 from three range statistics. He is avergaing 7.5 ppg so far this pre-season, which is what he averaged in his rookie year. Cute? Funny? Nah - just.......overrated.

starting PG - Derrick Rose - He seems to want to take over every game, yet does not have that overall ability just yet. Yeah, he can jump out of the building but he is not a pass first PG. He averaged 0.7 steals and 0.3 blocks per game last year. Uh....ever heard of defense?

backup C - Nene Hilario - He seems so interested in looking cool and playing smooth that he rarely gets down and dirty, which I wouldn't expect from a guy from South America. He has knee problems too.

backup PF -  Carlos Boozer - He puts up adequate PF numbers but fades and fails in all the biggest moments. Does Boozer actually care about winning?

backup SF - Gerald Wallace - He hangs out with MJ but how could he play so blindly knowing that the GOAT is watching? Wouldn't you think he'd watch old Jordan vids and at least try to emulate MJ - you know, so he'd be better.

backup SG - Jason Richardson - His scoring may go up because Amar'e is gone but he has proven so many times that it is all about the highlight reel and not actually figuring out a way to win. Actually, that statement kinda encapsulates the norm around the league nowadays.

backup PG - Gilbert Arenas - Like Bryant we judge him by his former accomplishments. It does not matter if you once scored 60 or even 81. You can't now!

11th man - John Wall - For all we know he will not be that great as a rookie. Will he be closer to how Jordan was as a rookie? (28.2 ppg, 51.5% fg, 6 reb, 6ast) or Kobe as a rookie? (7.5 ppg 41% fg) - I'd say the latter.

12th man - Yao Ming - He's starting to piss me off.

'e is gone
