Deion Branch Traded To Patriots

Bryan BrackneyOct 11, 2010
Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the Seattle Seahawks have traded wide receiver Deion Branch to the New England Patriots. Branch played with the Patriots from 2002 to 2005. Ian R. Rapport reports the Patriots gave up a fourth round pick for Branch.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters he gave Branch a "personal day". Turns out it was a "personnel day". In five games this season, Branch has 13 catches for 112 yards and a touchdown.
Branch will compete with Brandon Tate and Julian Edleman for snaps at receiver for the Patriots. Golden Tate should receive more snaps in Seattle with Branch out of the picture.

Really I was surprised that the Patriots gave up a fourth rounder for Branch. The receiver is well out of his prime, and he has a heavy contract. In addition, the Patriots only got a third round pick for Randy Moss.
Then again, I will remember the last time the Patriots sent a fourth round pick to a west coast team for a "washed up" receiver.
