B.C.S. National Championship Outlook For Midseason, and Possible Upsets
South Carolina's shocking victory over top ranked Alabama opened up the door for a lot of National Title hopefuls, and a possible Rose Bowl rematch between Ohio State and Oregon, or a rivalry game between Boise State and Oregon. If Oregon and Ohio State both win out it is more then likely they will battle it out for the Title as National Champion, but how likely is another big upset.
Both teams have had only one really challenging game and both still have have challenging games ahead. Ohio State plays #18 Wisconsin Saturday with Penn State, #15 Iowa, and a very good Michigan who recently dropped out of the rankings due to a very close defeat to Michigan State.
Oregon has made it passed possibly their toughest game against Stanford, but as every Ducks fan knows their is always something that stands in their way, we all remember the 2007 season when Dennis Dixon suffered a season ending knee injury with the ducks ranked second. Oregon has a bye this week then hosts UCLA who upset Texas earlier in the year and then travels to the coliseum to take on a less impressive USC team, and caps off their regular season hosting #17 Arizona and a 45 minute drive from Eugene to Corvallis for the Civil War.
So will the number one team be upset for the second week in a row, it is very possible, if they play anything like they did against Illinois Wisconsin could come out and beat the Buckeyes into the ground but if the Ohio State team that played against Miami comes out they should move right through Wisconsin, the same applies with Oregon. Both teams need to be consistently good to make it, they may not need to be shockingly amazing to win out but they cant play sloppy or any team on their schedule could pull off the upset.
