Chris Jericho: Why the Walls He Built Will Never Be Broken

Micheal RobinsonOct 11, 2010

Born into the world nearly 40 years ago in a fancy city known as Manhasset, N.Y. was Christopher Keith Irvine.

We know this man as Chris Jericho.

Jericho was born in New York, as the son of former NHL hockey player Ted Irvine. However, he was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Week after week since around 1996, Jericho has been rocking our hearts out and thrilling us with this in-ring dominance and his impressive mic skills.

Jericho also sings in a rock band known as Fozzy, but his heart has always been with wrestling on a full-time basis.

Jericho's biggest day in the WWE was when he defeated The Rock and Steve Austin on the same night in a tournament that also featured Kurt Angle at Vengeance.

It was on this night he became the first-ever undisputed champion of the WWE Heavyweight Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship of WCW.

Jericho's WWE career achievements could increase in his final years, however, he is a lock for the Hall of Fame at this point.

Jericho is a five-time world champion along with this WWE undisputed championship victory.

He has also won the Intercontinental Championship nine times, which is the highest number of reigns in history for that title.

The most memorable match in Jericho's career for me has to be his battle with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XIX in Seattle.

If it wasn't for the epic Rock/Austin match later in the night, this match would of easily stole the show.

With his catch phrases over the years, "C'mon, baby!", "Raw is Jericho", "I'm the Ayatollah of rock... and rollah," Jericho is truly a one of a kind wrestler.

Jericho also trained in the Hart Brothers Wrestling School, which needs no introduction.

I can honestly say it has been a pleasure watching Jericho over the years and he seems like a company man for the ages.

However, it is with some sadness that I know his age has got to put his career in jeopardy at some point.

I would like to see a few more big title wins for Jericho and a big WrestleMania match for a send off for the ages.

While his music claims that he is going to, "break the walls down."  It is worth noting that, the walls Jericho has built in his career will be climbed by many, but never climbed over, or broken down.

So the next time you see Jericho in an arena near you, it could be the last time you see him.  So bow, say thank you, stand and clap.  Better yet, keep booing him and making him more famous.
