Giants Have To Avoid The Lion Trap After Big Win Over Texans
This road win against the Texans could not have gone any better for the Giants, nor come at a better time. The Giants needed 2 things. Back-to-back wins, and a road win. Another big test for this team's new-found personality comes next week when the improving yet still inferior Detroit Lions come to New Jersey to face off in a conference game that could have playoff implications down the road.
The big test will be to avoid the classic trap game as the Giants can not look ahead 2 weeks when they face division rival Dallas. Detroit is an improved ball club. They show a fight, and grit not seen in almost a decade weather they win or lose. If you go in taking this team lightly they will rip your head off. QB Saun Hill has shown that he is a capable QB, even as a back-up. He "can" beat you if you give him too much time. Jahvid Best is a rookie RB who is improving every week also. The defence now has a consistent pass rush. Something they have not had since... no one remembers when. I know their first win was against a bad Ram team, but they did score 44 points without their starting QB, and WR Calvin Johnson late who went out with an injury late in the game.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
New York on the other hand seems to have put the embarrassing displays of inconsistency and stupidity behind them (for now anyway) that resulted in bad losses to the Colts, and Titans. Eli Manning still had 2 picks, but he had long drive after long drive that resulted in 3 TD passes, and one proto-typical Brandon Jacobs plow-like touchdown run from the 1 yard line. Jacobs and Bradshaw seem to now be jelling into a fierce 1-2 RB combination keeping each one fresh throughout the game. The Giants D is showing the ferocity it had in 2007, and early 2008. They harassed Texan QB Matt Schwab all day, gaining 2 sacks and a fumble on the day. He also had a bad pick in the 1st half. Punter Matt Dodge even had a decent game. And now that the back up QB has the holder position, he can just think about punting. The back-up QB in the holder position now brings out the possibility of fake FG attempts with our talented receivers on the outside.
The "trap" game has been a problem the Football Giants in the past. And with a reeling Dallas team waiting 2 weeks down the road, this could be one of those problems. Detroit needs to be put away early like they did to Houston. Then the Lions should pack it in waiting to get out of town. Let them hang around and the Giants will have an un-needed fight on their hands with an upstart club with nothing to lose. And the worst opponent you can face sometimes is the one with nothing to lose.
