Why The Broncos Will Beat The Ravens
Broncos have the best passing attack in the league statistically and the worst running attack in the league. This cannot be good enough to beat the ravens this week? Wrong. Josh Mcdaniels is a genius in the passing game and will get creative in exploiting the Baltimore Secondary. The reason the Baltimore Passing Defense is rated #1 in the league is because they have not faced an explosive passing offense so far. They have holes in the secondary which will be exploited by Kyle Orton and the potent passing attack. The major reason the secondary has not been exploited is their front seven. Haloti Ngata is probably playing his best football and I would bill him as their best defensive player(over Ray Lewis). How the Denver Offensive Line handles Haloti Ngata, Terell Suggs and Ray Lewis will determine the outcome of the game. If the offensive line stands ground against their defensive front 7, Broncos should score lot of points(not necessarily touchdowns). Another hidden factor is the penalties. The Broncos Offensive line group is meshing together and it is important they remain flag-free especially in this game to have a chance.
The most underrated aspect of the Broncos is their defense this year. They are stout against the run and have been tackling very well. Their secondary will force Joe Flacco to throw it out of bounds and have more 3 and outs. With Champ, Dawkins, Hill, Cox and with Goodman back, it will be a great matchup of Baltimore's technically sound receivers vs Broncos("bend but dont break") secondary. Robert Ayers and Jason Hunter are covering the edges well and D J Williams has stepped up his game a notch. I expect a low scoring game in 15-25 range and the game will not be more than a touchdown apart and should be a treat for fans to watch. The special teams is an X-factor and the Broncos Kick Off and Punt return units have to be on guard in spite of Ed Reed not being there in uniform. Broncos also have one of the best kickers in the league in Matt Prater who hardly misses field goals.
No one is willing to give Broncos a chance against the Ravens and understandably so since Ravens are coming back home from a big road win in their division but i think this Broncos team( despite all the weaknesses) will hang in tough and grind out a win. Most of the matchups favor the Ravens but I think the underdogs will prevail in this one and serve notice in the fast improving AFC West.
