2010 Moto GP: How Jorge Lorenzo Has Dominated But Ben Spies Has Been a Success
It has been Jorge Lorenzo's year in terms of the championship, but for rookie Ben Spies, his first season in Moto GP could not have gone any better.
With four rounds still to go, including tomorrow's race in Malaysia all Lorenzo needs to do is ride sensibly and the title is his.
Dani Pedrosa's injury last weekend all but ended his late challenge for the title, but in truth if the championship did not go to Lorenzo then it would be a travesty.
Having scored 297 points and finishing every race bar two on the podium, Lorenzo has had an exceptional season, albeit without his teammate, Valentino Rossi. Next year, we will see who the real champion is, as Lorenzo's Yamaha will battle against as of next season Valentino's Ducati.
Step aside for a while though Jorge, as rookie of the year Ben Spies will be right on your tale. After a brilliant first season, including two podium finishes, Spies has earned his place alongside Lorenzo in the Fiat Yamaha team next year.
We all knew Spies had the talent to be a success in Moto GP after triumphs in AMA and World Superbikes, but he has surprised everyone. Spies has completely dominated Texan teammate, Colin Edwards year whilst he has ousted the constant rumour that Superbike riders cannot ride in Moto GP.
For all those that still believe that then take a look at Ben Spies.
