NFL Fantasy Football Week 5 Sleepers to Help with Your Bye Week Needs

Ryan LesterOct 8, 2010

During the bye weeks you often have to roll out less than ideal lineups, especially when your players are nicked up. That’s the nature of the beast.

Sometimes you need a fantasy gem to be successful. Here are some of the under the radar players that could possibly pull out a win for you.

Shaun Hill, QB, Detroit Lions

Everybody, myself included, is talking about his counterpart Sam Bradford for this week’s game. Meanwhile, Hill is facing St. Louis’ 21st-ranked pass defense at home.

Michael Bush, RB, Oakland Raiders

With Darren McFadden sitting this one out, Bush gets a chance to show what he can do. San Diego has played the run well, ranking seventh with 80.3 rushing yards allowed per game, but Oakland is sixth in rushing offense. Between bye weeks and injuries, Bush is a decent play this week.

Ryan Torain, RB, Washington Redskins

Clinton Portis is out for an extended period, perhaps the rest of the season, and Mike Shanahan will give Torain a chance to see what he can do. He faces Green Bay, which ranks 24th with 118.3 rushing yards per game and 31st with 5.2 yards allowed per carry.

Steve Johnson, WR, Buffalo Bills

Ryan Fitzpatrick has actually looked decent at QB for the Bills. Johnson has scored in consecutive weeks. He faces Jacksonville, which ranks 30th with 304 passing yards allowed per game and dead last with nine passing TDs allowed.

Danny Amendola, WR, St. Louis Rams

Amendola has 21 catches for 208 yards in four games. He has yet to score but faces Detroit, which has allowed eight passing TDs already. They are yielding 241 passing yards per game, which is good for a 26th ranking.

Benjamin Watson, TE, Cleveland Browns

Watson has 18 catches on the year and is facing Atlanta, which has allowed tight end touchdowns in each of its last two games.
