Matt Riddle To Face TJ Waldburger at UFC 124 In Montreal

The news just keeps on coming for UFC 124.

First McCorkle-Struve, then Almeida-Grant, then MacDonald-Natal, and now joining the fray of exciting fights is a Welterweight collision between 24-year old Matthew Riddle and 22-year-old TJ Waldburger.

MMA Fighting reported the news earlier today about a potential fight between the two rising stars.

Riddle has fought and beaten the likes of Greg Soto, Damarques Johnson and others in the cage, dropping only one fight to Nick Osipczak. His opponent, while younger in age, has more experience with a 13-5 professional record, including a successful debut at UFC Fight Night 22 in an undercard fight against David Mitchell.

This fight joins an already promising card that features Ricardo Almeida, Stefan Struve, Jason MacDonald, TJ Grant, and of course, the long-awaited, much-anticipated UFC Welterweight Title fight between champion Georges "Rush" St-Pierre and Ultimate Fighter 1 alumni Josh Koscheck.

Koscheck will challenge his foe for the 170-lb. crown in GSP's home field in Montreal, and if you've been keeping track at home, stands at 0-3 as an Ultimate Fighter coach.

So far there has been no mention of whether this Welterweight bout will be seen exclusively on the preliminary cards by a live audience at the Bell Centre in Montreal, or if it will be shown on a live PPV broadcast of the event, or even if it will be shown on Spike TV.

I'll admit I've never seen TJ Waldburger fight, so I can't predict whether he'll be a threat to Matt Riddle in this fight. I will, however, say that things might get interesting at 170 pounds after this fight.

Two young guys duking it out to move a step closer to top contender status. Almost makes you wish the fight was tomorrow night, doesn't it?
