NFL Quick Picks: Week 5
Well I'm back once again to give you all my long thought out (took me 2 minutes to decide on games this week) picks for Week 5.
So far this season I'm a respectable 39-24. I feel real good about most of my picks, and there are a few from the gut that I just have a feeling about and I'm probably the only one picking some of these teams to win.
I'm sure you can't wait to see 'em so here they are.

I know I shouldn't. I picked the Bills last week in an upset and I was horribly, horribly wrong.
I swore while watching that debacle that I was done picking the Bills for the rest of the season. They'll probably go 0-16 and then squander their number one pick.
Well, like the kid who wore the bike helmet in gym class I feel sorry for the Bills.
Also I like being the guy who believes in someone when no one else does, after all I predicted Kurt Russel would lead the US Hockey over the Soviets (never mind that was a movie and the actual events took place three years before I was born).
So I want to be that guy that says "HA! I'm the only one who picked 'em to win!"
Damn my record, I'm going against logic and picking the Bills to win.
It's Spiller time, Bills (why am I doing this) win 20-17.

Honestly I want to curse the Texans and hope they never win another game this season.
Why?
Because they waited until after the first slate of games last Sunday were well under way before announcing Andre Johnson wouldn't play.
Because of that I couldn't sub anyone else in because they were all playing already. I lost my fantasy game by less then a point.
All they had to do was trout him out for one play, complete a one yard pass to him, then give him the day off.
I mean really Houston, think of others before you act.
Well anyways (sorry for that) the Texans offense is explosive, their defense is not.
But the Giants aren't very good on offense so in spite of the Giants' defense I'm giving the slight edge to Houston.
Texans win 27-21.

This season those arrogant old-timers from the 72 Dolphins can break the champagne out a little earlier this year as the Chiefs remain the only undefeated team after week 4.
Sadly for the Chiefs they run into a very upset Indy team, in Indy.
The last of the undefeated will fall and we'll get to here about the clinging of champagne glasses (God I hate the 72 Dolphins).
Colts win 35-13.

Chad Ochocinco's pigeon finally laid her eggs (I'm not making this up) so hopefully he'll have better focus for this week's game.
Seriously I have no idea what is going on in Cincinnati, I picked this team to win the division (like I did for the lowly Dolphins) and they let me down every week.
Well this week they invite Tampa Bay to town and like last week I can see anyway that they'll lose (except for the fact that they lost last week).
But Chad entertains me way too much on Twitter for me to pick against him at home against the Bucs.
Chad pays back my faith by getting me a lot of points (is two touchdowns too much to ask) in fantasy football.
Bengals look like the team I thought they were, 24-10.

This game probably gave me the most trouble out of any game on this week's schedule.
I'm not sure of the identity of either team.
The Packers are my pick to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, but they got beat up by the Bears and almost let a home game against the Lions slip away.
On the flip side, my pick to win the NFC East, has played two mean and dirty games against NFC East rivals (Cowboys and Eagles) and have come out on top of both.
They should have beat the Texans and then laid an egg in St. Louis.
Oddly enough with Clinton Portis hurt I think the Redskins actually gain an edge.
The Packers are 3-1 against the run this season and new starter Ryan Torain is one tough runner to bring down.
Also last week the Redskins defense was much improved.
It's going to be close but I think the Skins pull off a close one at home.
17-14 Skins win.

Anyone else think the Rams would be this good so far this season.
Me neither, but they'll be above .500 by the end of Sunday.
Rams beat the lowly Lions, 28-9.

Jay Cutler and the Bears got beat up on Sunday, but will luckily bounce back against Carolina.
I honestly have no idea what John Fox is doing down there. They had a legitimate shot at winning last week, but with one time-out and less then two minutes to go they thought running the ball was the best option.
We all know he's a lame duck coach but at least pretend you're trying to win football games.
Bears bounce back 27-6.
ATL @ CLE

The Falcons got lucky last week and escaped with a win. Cleveland showed they're not a push over and punished the Bengals.
This one took some thought but I'm going with the Falcons here, 21-17.

Big win for the Ravens last week against the hated Steelers. Too bad that if Big Ben were playing the score would have been different.
The Ravens have a good line and good linebackers, however, their secondary is terrible and this week they face the number one rated quarterback in the league.
That's right Kyle Orton is the number one rated quarterback in the NFL (Suck it Chicago).
He'll expose that weak secondary and Flacco will have to try and keep pace.
He won't and the Broncos get the upset.
Denver wins 17-10.

Peter King is really big on undrafted free agent Max Hall. He might just be the spark the struggling Cardinals need, to bad they welcome Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.
The Cards lose yet again.
24-10

The Cowboys got a win when they desperately needed one over the high flying Texans. Then they went and acted like undisciplined jack-asses by running up a 55k dinner bill for rookie Dez Bryant to pay.
They welcome the Titans to Dallas and continue to fall in the NFC East.
Titans bounce back from letting one slip last week.
20-13.

Anyone still think Oakland has a chance to win the AFC West?
Didn't think so, just like they have no chance at winning this game.
Chargers improve to 3-2.
42-13.
PHI @ SF

The Niners continue to find new ways to lose football games. However the Eagles are without Michael Vick and are giving up an average of over 130 rushing yards a game.
Look for Frank Gore to have a huge day and the Eagles fall to 2-3 giving the 49ers their first win of the year.
28-9.

Moss is back in Minnesota and back on Revis island.
His arrival is too little too late for the sinking ship Vikings.
The Jets continue to prove me wrong for picking them to miss the play-offs.
17-7.
Thats All Folks.

That's all I got folks. Enjoy the games on Sunday and follow me on Twitter (@jomac006) I'm sure I'll have some interesting things to say if any of my players are held out after the start of the games.
Until next week, take care.
