MSU vs. Denard: some thoughts....

With Michigan State coming to Ann Arbor Saturday, the Spartans have a chance to beat the Wolverines, and perhaps more importantly, beat Denard Robinson. Everyone knows that this game is an important rivalry. But, this game has national implications, in so far as the Heisman race is concerned. DR is the Heisman favorite if and only if his team continues to win. Quarterbacks for Ohio State, The Ducks, and Auburn become more likely Heisman winners if Denard R. is the leader of a losing team. If MSU wins this weekend, Denard might lose the Heisman.
 
Robinson is the favorite because his team is winning, and winning because of his arms and legs. However, any perception of Denard’s ability is viewed through the prism of his team's successes. His hope of a Heisman this year fade if the Wolverines can't beat MSU, Iowa during the next two weeks, and then can't beat Wisconsin and (even less likely) Ohio State, as the season ends. 


 
This becomes a more interesting analysis when the next two seasons are considered, since DR has two more years to win the Heisman. Will this current season boost recruiting power at U of M, thereby increasing the likelihood that DR will win in the future?
 
Does Denard's mobility increase the chances that he might sustain a serious injury? If he feels that this might happen, could he cash in before his junior or senior year and opt for the pro draft? However, risk of injury is not the only reason to jump to the pros.
