WRESTLEMANIA XXVII: SET TO BE THE GREATEST ONE OF ALL

        The end of the year is upon us.

        While some discuss what costume to wear for Halloween or what gifts to buy for Christmas, the WWE is already setting in motion the events that will mark its history forever. But what can we, the WWE Universe, expect to witness on the grandest stage of them all, WRESTLEMANIA.

         It has been ten years since Wrestlemania X-Seven and the end of the Attitude Era. A time of "bra and panty" matches, jaw-dropping moments and Stone Cold Steve Austin delivering his own brand of justice upon any who dared to cross his path.

        This era was marked by the fact that WWE was winning the Monday night wars and establishing its dominance over the pro-wrestling world. It was not a PG-friendly product. There was blood, sex and violence not to mention coarse language yet the WWE universe relished every moment and demanded more. It was a gamble. The WWE took a different path to ensure it would come out on top and in the end, Mr McMahon won his bet.

        The scene has most definitely changed over the last years. Many stars have come and gone. Some have become legends of the sport who rose up like fire and burnt all that opposed them. Though we may not realize it, a decade has passed since the end of Wrestlemania 17. Everything has come full circle. The 27th edition of the show will be the starting point of a new era. There are already rumors of a major event in the making so I believe it will be big, something to really shake things up.

         There are some matches that I imagine could really sell this event. An undisputed WWE championship match, The Undertaker' streak challenged, The Miz and his MITB briefcase. Here's what I see and why.

MAIN EVENT

The Undertaker Vs John Cena: This is the current rumor I keep on hearing and frankly it sounds awesome. The two have not battled at this event yet. Cena like Taker always wins at Wrestlemania so ultimately you know this was bound to happen not to mention I feel this is by far the best way to sell a "heel" Cena unless you have him face The Rock.  You also hear of Sheamus being the deadman's opponent (which could be good) but I like this better. Undertaker is 19-0 after this.

WWE Champion Vs World Heavyweight Champion, winner becomes Undisputed Champion: Let's say this rumored event hasn't happened at Royal Rumble then for sure it would at the event of the year. I feel it should happen before because of two factors. One, the rumble winner has a place in the main event and two, a triple threat match is not exciting news so ultimately this should take place before and then have the Undisputed Champion battle the winner of the Royal Rumble here. I hope CM Punk ends up somewhere in this match, his move to RAW could be a signal.

Randy Orton Vs The Miz (Anything goes, falls count anywhere): Ya nice try! you may think but after Miz costs Orton the title sometime soon there would be hell to pay. I got a great vibe from their encounter a few months back and started to think about what kind of matches these two could have. Also, remember Miz said he was 1-0 after his WM26 match. Everything that happens in WWE is done according to a scripted storyline thus if Miz says he is 1-0 is because he may have been told to do so and eventually will have a Wrestlemania streak too. Why not? The Miz is great and I personally would enjoy seeing him on a yearly basis. If a match between the two happens, expect Miz to come out on top FOR SURE. He is not going to lose, Orton would survive and it would elevate the "Awesome one" to great heights.

The Miz cashes in the MITB: We keep asking ourselves when. This is when! Why promote him so much if he is to be labelled as the one who failed forever. It will happen after the WWE championship match. He will close Wrestlemania and it will be awesome!

OTHER MATCHES

Tag team championship match TLC X? Edge is moving to SMACKDOWN so let's not rule out the possibility of an E&C reunion. With rumors of the Dudleys leaving TNA, major changes coming etc, here is an amazing way to revive the tag team division. Mind you, I have no idea who the champs will be by then but wouldn't it be great to see this type of match again?

Daniel Bryan Vs Alberto Del Rio, I-C/US championship: Another speculation. There are rumors here again of titles being unified so perhaps this is what will come. Del Rio is great, he needs gold soon but not the WHC, let him go up the ladder step by step please. Bryan is the current US Champion. Unless they unify the titles sooner making Daniel Bryan the Intercontinental Champion (I really doubt they'll keep the US title instead) this match could be champion Vs champion. In the end, Alberto Del Rio wins gold at Wrestlemania XXVII. We will see what title he gets but it is headed that way once he finishes up with Rey Mysterio (Doesn't that guy need surgery?)

Divas championship match: Beth Phoenix wins here. Doesn't matter who the champion is, McCool or Natalya. They are gonna wait to climax the return of the Glamazon here and why spoil this. Sure they have thrashed the divas division CONSIDERABLY in the last few years but the future is always filled with endless possibilities and I like to think positive so lets do so. Michelle McCool was great in 2009, her feud with Melina was very well done. I may not like this annoying "Laycool" angle for much longer but I think it is not about to end just yet...sorry Natalya (Maybe she wins and loses the title back to McCool in time for her to face Beth.)

         Where does that leave NEXUS? Wade Barrett? Triple H and the others like CM Punk? Could a cruiserweight division and title be in the works? What are we to see on the grandest stage of them all?

         There are indications of WWE ready to make some great changes. Ratings this low need to be addressed. The WWE Universe uses the internet well and I think upper management has finally been paying attention. It is the end of an era and things are looking up. Ten years have passed since the greatest event in WWE history, it is time to establish a new record.
