Stefan Struve vs. Sean McCorkle Targeted for UFC 124
Call it a toss to the wolves, I guess.
Sean McCorkle was last seen bringing the pain to K-1 legend Mark Hunt and submitting him, but when the fans see him again, it'll be a different story.
MMA Junkie reports that McCorkle is slated to be the next opponent for Stefan Struve and that the fight is to happen at UFC 124 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
McCorkle is unbeaten in a 10-fight pro career but he will face some stiff competition in the form of The Skyscraper, who boasts a 20-4 record in MMA and was successful in his undercard fight at UFC 117.
Clearly, both men will have height on their side in what should be an all-around clinic, but Struve has the advantage in terms of experience in the sport.
McCorkle needs to use every tool he possibly can—from his striking game to his ground game and submission holds—if he is to have any success against the likes of Stefan Struve.
Whether or not McCorkle defeats Struve remains to be seen, but then again, McCorkle was seen as an underdog against McCorkle at UFC 119, so it's tough to say that he doesn't stand a chance against Struve—especially considering how little we know about the kid compared to Struve.
What striking talents does he possess?
Is he versed in wrestling or judo?
Does he have a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt?
Maybe and maybe not, but we know too little about this young prospect to say for certain that he hasn't.
We all may need UFC 124 to get to know Sean McCorkle better before we can determine what we think the future holds for this kid.
