UFC 125: Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson Could Kick Off 2011 With a Bang
You asked for it, and now you're going to finally be able to see it... hopefully.
While not confirmed for UFC 125 on New Year's Day 2011, Fanhouse MMA reports that explosive juggernaut Shane Carwin will look to get himself back in contention for a UFC Heavyweight title shot, but to do so, he may have to get past Roy "Big Country" Nelson.
This is more than your average "wrestler-vs-Jiu-Jitsu-master" fight would do.
For the first time since the first encounter between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir, a heavyweight bout at a UFC pay-per-view will feature two prospects and future champions of the UFC's largest division -- both of which could not possibly wait to be the holy high hell out of each other.
After Roy Nelson's bout with Junior Dos Santos this past summer in Oakland for UFC 117, he basically did what few thought Roy Nelson would ever do and called out the formerly-undefeated prospect out of the Greg Jackson camp.
This started a war of words between the two that only had more room to fuel up the fire when allegations arose of Shane Carwin being linked to a pharmacist who has sold steroids to certain sports athletes.
This will all come to a head at UFC 125 if the match is signed, and the fight itself could not be any more even.
Both men are tough, both men have experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu -- although Nelson's could be superior for all we know, despite Shane's purple belt under Nate Marquardt, and both guys love to throw leather as well as ground their opposition.
It's been a while since trash-talk between two heavyweights had gotten as heavy as the talk between these two.
With all this in mind, you can expect some powerful fireworks come New Year's Day.
