Fantasy NFL: Wide Receiver (WR) Rankings for Week 4

Kevin HansonOct 2, 2010
Yesterday we updated our fantasy football rankings for Week 4. Here are some notes regarding wide receivers and pass defenses heading into this week:
  • Through three weeks, Colts receiver Austin Collie leads the NFL in receptions (27), receiving yards (359), and is tied for the lead in receiving touchdowns (four).
  • Steelers receivers Hines Ward (nine fantasy points) and Mike Wallace (22 fantasy points) had productive games with Charlie Batch under center last week. With Batch under center again, can they duplicate their success against the Ravens this week?
  • Ravens receiver Anquan Boldin scored three touchdowns on his eight receptions against the Browns (and several of my fantasy teams). In the process, he became the quickest player (98 games) to get to the 600-reception mark.
  • Miami's Brandon Marshall, who's one of the two receivers in our Week 4 fantasy football contest, had 10 receptions for 166 yards and a touchdown last week. That's more receptions (nine) and receiving yards (139) than New England's Randy Moss, the other receiver in our Week 4 fantasy football contest, has through three games.
  • 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree has only six receptions for 81 yards through three games. How much will the change at offensive coordinator help him and quarterback Alex Smith this week and going forward?
  • So far this year, the Broncos and Chargers have four players with at least 140 yards. The Chiefs, Jaguars, and Bucs have none.
  • Only two receivers have posted 75 receiving yards in all three of their games this season: Santana Moss (Redskins) and Mario Manningham (Giants).
  • Raiders receiver Louis Murphy has caught 10 of his 15 passes from Bruce Gradkowski, who replaced Jason Campbell at halftime of Week 2. In the past two weeks, Murphy has 11 receptions for 238 yards and a touchdown. And no team has allowed more fantasy points to opposing wide receivers than Houston.
