Kay's View: Tottenham Hotspur, Our Second Favourite Team
Everybody has their favorite soccer team.
Whether this is because of a special attachment with the team or because of a sentimental value, "fans" as they are called will stick with their team through good and bad.
However, every soccer fan also has a second favorite team. This is usually a team that you do not have to put so much emotion in. It is usually a team that you may support, but you do not really mind if they lose, because you were watching them just for the pleasure of it.

Lately this "second favorite team" seems to be none other than Tottenham Hotspur (aka Spurs). They are playing free-flowing and mostly attacking football that is easy on the eye. They have some very exciting players such as Lennon, Dafoe, and Bale that provide thrills throughout the game.
When playing in the English Premier League you never know what to expect from them. They might have 20 attempts on goal but still not manage to score, while other times it might be the total opposite by creating one chance and scoring a goal. It is the same story on the other side of the pitch too. Sometimes their defense is impeccable while other times just a total mess.
It has been the same story in the Champions League. They have been a breath of fresh air for England, because they broke the monopoly of the so-called big four of Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
On Wednesday Spurs faced FC Twente at White Hart Lane. It was one of the better games of the night with fast-paced, end-to-end action. At times the Spurs should have been up 2–0, while at other times they should have been down 0–2. Finally they managed to score, and with the help of two penalties they won 4-1.
And that is the reason why they are everybody’s second favorite team. Spurs provide us with so much passion and thrill, but we do not really need to be emotionally attached to them.
So after watching a game of theirs we can sit back, relax, and appreciate what we just saw. I could not say the same for Spurs fans though. Imagine what they have to go through every week!
