WWE Hell in a Cell: Final Preview and Questions
Hello, Buzzers. Buzz is back.
Before I start, I'd like to apologize to all members who expected me to publish this slide-show yesterday. I had to deal with some personal issues, and I had to postpone it till today.
Two weeks has passed since Night of Champions, and we're already hours away from the next Pay-Per-View, Hell in a Cell.
Though, I may agree with anyone saying that two weeks is a very short time to hype for a PPV, I could still disagree with those saying that all matches have no hype. Other than the Divas match, all matches are stemming from feuds that have been running for months.
However, this doesn't wipe away the fact that something is really missing in this PPV and in WWE as a whole. The lackluster ratings that RAW pulled are massive evidence on how fans are feeling about the show. Even Smackdown's debut on Syfy wasn't as good as expected, and I felt RAW has moved to Friday nights.
With all this, WWE are in desperate need of a shake-up, and Hell in a Cell might be the best place for the beginning of changes, unless they are happy with their performance.
In the following slides I'll try to analyze expectations anticipated from each match.
Five matches have been announced for the PPV, and maybe we could see one additional match added as a last minute announcement.
All said and done, let the show begin.
Will This Be a Long and Promising Feud? Will Team Laycool Continue Or Split?
1 of 10
Other than the continuous nonsense of the co-cahmpionship and Laycool segments, it's fair to say that the Divas Division seems to be looking better than how it was in the last few months. Of course, I'm not saying that they're in their best days. There are still many cons in it, and even the NXT 3 season wasn't looking good, despite having one or two decent Divas.
However, I'm talking about the current Divas involved in the Divas Title matches. The NOC match between Melina and Michelle McCool was good and better than many matches we've seen since Mickie James' release and Beth Phoenix's injury. Before this match, we've been watching Maryse, Eve and Alicia Fox exchanging the Divas Title on RAW in lame feuds. While on Smackdown we had to bear a silly feud between Laycool and Kelly Kelly with dozens of boring segments and matches. I know that some people liked Laycool with their "naughty girls from high school" gimmick, but it's time for some changes, and this can't go on forever.
After Melina's loss at NOC and later at RAW in a title rematch against Layla, Natalya was able to win a Divas Battle Royal and become the new number one contender. Arguably, Natalya is one the best Divas in WWE right now, and I'm sure she'll be able to put another good match against Michelle McCool at HIAC.
This feud can go in many different ways. Natalya could lose, thus ending the feud quickly and making us suffer with more Laycool. Or she might lose via disqualification and continue with the feud for a longer time.
Of course, we shouldn't forget about the Hart Dynasty. They could be involved in the match and even help Natalya win. Or Natalya might lose and cause a brawl between David Heart Smith and Tyson Kidd.
Natalya can even win and feud with other Divas until Beth Phoenix's return, while Laycool's loss can finally cause a split and a feud between the two ladies.
However, I think that Natalya will put on a good match and lose in the end due to an interference from Layla. Next, we might see some controversy hitting Laycool either caused by jealousy or by Theodre Long. Or as I said, Natalya could win due to help from the Hart Dynasty and cause controversy between the flawless Laycool.
So what how do you think this match will end? Will Natalya finally win a deserved Championship? Will she receive help from her partners? Or will Laycool win and continue? When will Laycool end? Will they go on until the return of Phoenix?
Will The US Championship Match Steal The Show?
2 of 10
Daniel Bryan and Miz are having a great feud until now. No need to talk about the hype here, because the history between the two superstars goes back to NXT 1. However, they won't be alone this time as the Shaman of Sexy, John Morrison will be part of the combat.
After his involvement in a tag-team match where he teamed with Bryan and faced the team of Miz and Alex Riley, Morrison was added to the match after he brawled with Miz and Bryan in the aftermath of the bout. The anonymous RAW GM announced it as a first-ever triple-threat submissions count anywhere match.
Many people didn't like the idea of throwing Morrison randomly into this contest. I might agree that it appeared to be random picking, but let's not forget that Miz and Morrison have long history of rivalry between them, and this could add more intensity to the match.
We can expect many things from this match. Given the stipulation, it can easily steal the show due to the physicality that might be involved. Or it can be a mess if not booked well.
We should expect some innovative submission holds from the contenders, especially Daniel Bryan who has the advantage on his side given this stipulation. We should expect some cool and impressive spots and moves by Morrison similar to what we saw in his match against Sheamus three weeks ago. As for Miz, never count Mr. "Awesome" out. He can make use of the situation and pick up a sneaky victory. We shouldn't forget about his rookie, Alex Riley, who's presence can be so effective.
Most people here expect Bryan to win and retain the US Title. He will either make Miz tap out again to his Lebell Lock, or he could add Morrison to the victims of this maneuver.
However, we could always expect different results. Miz or Morrison could pull out a victory with a submission maneuver of their own, even though it looks a bit difficult for them.
What if the match ended with double submission? What if two superstars applied their move on the third superstar at the same time and made him tap out? This will sure lead to a new feud.
So who will win this match. Will Bryan prove us right? Or will Miz or Morrison have other thoughts?
How will things go after the match? Will Miz and Bryan go on with their feud? Or will Morrison begin a new feud with Bryan while Miz can go and focus on bigger things coming?
Will This Match Mark The End Of Nexus Or The Beginning of a New Run For Cena?
3 of 10
Finally, the clash between Nexus and John Cena will come to an end tonight. At least Cena won't be worrying about Wade Barret and his partners interrupting his matches and attacking him from now on, because he'll either disband the group or join it after Sunday night.
For me, despite all so-called spoilers and posters of future coming PPVs, I think that this match is unpredictable. However, the aftermath of this confrontation could be interesting.
Before I go on, I just want to remind everybody here that Nexus members are barred from ring-side. Any interference by them will hand the win to Cena over Barret.
Unlike others, I don't like reading into things. I know that Bragging Rights poster has the Nexus logo on it, and I even saw the Survivor Series poster with the photo of Nexus members on it too. But I also saw Rey Mysterio's photo with the World Heavyweight Title on Night of Champions poster months before it started, and yet it was changed as soon as the road to the previous PPV began. So until the road to BR begins, I won't be expecting anything. I even thought that they already have a new poster with Miz's photo on it.
I have many thoughts and expectations for this match and I'll try to break them down.
I'll start with the possibility of Cena winning. Few things could be expected if the match ends this way. I mean this will make Cena go on with his super-man gimmick who defies the odds in the end. Nexus will be disbanded and gone will be the gang-bang attacks. Wade Barret and Cena might go on with their feud after HIAC but without Nexus. So the end of Nexus will be inevitable if Cena wins, unless they add new stipulations for later matches.
However, the more interesting possibility that would lead to completely different segments will be Cena losing to Barret and joining Nexus. I'm not sure what to expect from Cena during his possible run with the arm-banded stable while wearing his new yellow-and-black garb. But the only thing that's making everybody on the edge of their seat is a possible heel turn for Cena. Well, I'll echo Vickie Guerrero here and say "Excuse Me" but I'm not part of those people.
Some members here think that Cena's loss will automatically make him heel. This seems illogical and so ridiculous. I mean why would this make him heel? For me, I see it in a different way. Cena's loss will force him to join Nexus due to the stipulations of the match, but that won't make him heel in any means. Does anyone remember how the face Rey Mysterio was forced to join the heel LWO stable after losing to Eddie Guerrero at WCW in 1998? Did we forget how a face Shawn Michaels was forced to work to a heel JBL in 2008? Did this make him heel? I think Cena will stay face but he'll be a helpless and reluctant superstar who is forced to do things against his wills.
I can't see a direct heel turn for Cena if he loses. WWE might begin teasing a heel turn that could happen in the next months due to different situations occurring, but not now. I like to see Cena turning heel, but this should happen in a logical way. Even a four-year old kid won't be convinced by a sudden heel turn just because he joined Nexus.
Some people are suggesting that Cena could be the mastermind behind Nexus, or he could just turn on the fans during the match and hand Barret the win. I apologize, but this would be the dumbest thing I've ever watched in a very long time. And if anyone here finds this amazing, please tell me what stuff you're smoking because it seems very effective on your brain.
If Cena joins Nexus, I think the feud will go on for a while. We might even watch another match in a later PPV with a stipulation that could free Cena from the band if he wins. or Cena could try to break the alliance and end the stable from inside.
A lot can be expected from this match, and I'm going to need more than one slide if I go on.
So what do you think will happen? Will Cena win and end Nexus? Will Cena lose and join the stable and go on with the feud for a long time? Will WWE make Cena join Nexus so they can increase the group's merchandise sales (joke)? If Cena loses, will he turn heel? When will this happen?
One more question to add, do Nexus have a mastermind behind them, or are they on their own? If yes, would he be revealed soon?
When Will The Clash Of Brothers End? Is The Dead Man On His Way To Retirement?
4 of 10
Ever since this feud began, predictions have been suggesting that Kane will win at NOC before Undertaker retaliates and win at HIAC, thus ending this confrontation either at Bragging Rights or Survivor Series. Undertaker was looking so weak during the road to NOC, and after his loss, people were wondering how WWE will make him look better. The answer was, Paul Bearer!
The Father of Destruction's return with his urn added a new chapter to the feud, and even made everybody reconsider their thoughts about Undertaker's run with WWE. For them, Bearer's return could mark the beginning of the end for the Dead Man's long and impressive journey with WWE.
However, most predictions are still on Undertaker's side to win this match. The Dead-Man has been looking much better ever since Bearer's return, and his last match against CM Punk was a proof to all doubters. But never count Kane out.
If Undertaker wins, Kane will definitely ask for a rematch which will probably occur at Bragging Rights. I think it's still too early to anticipate future results for this feud. Nothing about the rumors seems accurate until now.
Paul Bearer will definitely be watching the match from ring-side, but how effective will he be? Will he make a surprise turn on the Dead-Man and join Kane as revenge for what he did to him six years ago (he buried him in cement)? This will make the feud even hotter.
I think this confrontation can go till Survivor Series and even Wrestlemania with either Kane or Undertaker taking some time off and returning during this time. I'd even expect a buried alive match at Survivor Series.
Again, if I try to think about all possible results and future anticipations, I would continue writing for hours. So I'll keep it short. But we should definitely guarantee a tough and physical match between the Brothers of Destruction, and the Devil's Playground is the best place for this battle.
Will Undertaker finally retaliate and win? Or will Kane pull a surprise win and continue with his dominance?
Will Randy Orton Prove His Dominance Or Will Sheamus Retaliate?
5 of 10
There's no doubt that Randy Orton has been on a very hot run for weeks now. He was able to gain huge momentum prior to the six-pack elimination match at NOC where he finally won the WWE Title.
Now, Orton won't have to worry about being in the ring with five other superstars, and his main focus will be to prove his dominance and continue with his hot run when he faces the Celtic Warrior, Sheamus.
Despite showing impressive strength during his short run until now in WWE, Shemaus has yet to gain a credible title victory. And what better way to do it against the Viper inside the demonic structure?
During the last confrontation between the two superstars on Smackdown, Sheamus was the one standing tall in the end. That was the first time we see Orton lose momentum in weeks.
So what do you think? Will Sheamus be able to win and end the "Age of Orton" that only started two weeks ago, thus making it a short-lived one? Or will the Viper finally put down the Irish superstar?
I think Sheamus will lose and feud with a returning HHH.
Despite rumors about WWE officials regretting the decision to hand Orton the Championship, and despite the abysmal ratings pulled by RAW after NOC, the Viper is definitely an established champion who can have an impressive run if booked well. After all, he can't be blamed alone for the falling ratings.
However, something might happen after the match.
Is It Time For Miz-Ter Money In The Bank To Cash in His Contract?
6 of 10
Again, I say it for the hundredth time, as long as Miz holds the Briefcase, we should always expect him to cash in his contract anytime.
At NOC, Miz suffered a humiliating loss against Daniel Bryan, and Randy Orton was able to win a hard fought battle against five other superstars. So I think that making the Miz cash in his contract at that time would have been a mess.
However, this might be a better time to do it. Miz's credibility won't be hurt a lot this time if he loses, as he might not even be included in the count. Furthermore, Randy Orton or Sheamus will definitely be exhausted after the match, and it will be a perfect time to do it.
However, it seems that WWE are having some bigger plans for Miz, and he might keep the briefcase for the time being. Add to this that Miz's match won't be easy, and he might not be in a good shape to cash in his contract later.
For me, I hope he doesn't do it now. Orton needs a longer reign unless there are plans for a future feud between the two.
As for Sheamus, a one minute reign won't be a good addition to his resume.
So will Miz cash in his contract tonight? If he does this, will he win or lose?
What Other Matches Could Be Added To The PPV?
7 of 10
Until now, we only have five matches for the show.
Despite the fact that this seems be the final card for HIAC, I still think we'll have one additional match at least. We've been watching many other feuds, and a last minute announced match could be inevitable.
I expect one or two of the following matches to be announced during the show:
Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio
MVP vs. Dolph Ziggler (c) for the Intercontinental Title
Edge vs. Jack Swagger
A Tag-Team Championship match
Other superstars who could be available:
Big Show, CM Punk, Luke Gallows.
Will There Be Surprise Returns?
8 of 10
Few superstars have been out for months now. Among those superstars, we have HHH and Beth Phoenix. Those two superstars are expected to make their return very soon.
Could they return this Sunday? Will Beth Phoenix make an appearance and go after Laycool who put her out? Will Triple H make an appearance during the WWE Title match and attack Sheamus? Will NXT 2 rookies interfere in Cena's match?
Will RAW GM be revealed?
Will Any of The Current Feuds Continue Till Bragging Rights?
9 of 10
Bragging Rights is only three weeks away. Again, I think that this another relatively short time, so I do see some of the feuds going till this PPV.
However, the concept of this PPV could have it's influence on the card. The World Title matches could continue, but we will sure have inter-promotional matches too. I'm not sure if they will have enough time to hype for the cross-brand fights.
Undertaker and Kane's rivalry is likely to continue, especially with Paul Bearer's return now.
Nexus and Cena's future depends on the outcome of the match.
As for the WWE match, I think Orton will win and end the bout.
Final Thoughts: Are You Looking Forward To This PPV?
10 of 10
Despite the fact that NOC ended two weeks ago, HIAC is PPV that many of us could be looking forward to. All matches look promising and can be memorable to say the least.
I know that two weeks are not enough to hype for a PPV, but again I say that most matches are from feuds that have been running for months.
As I said in the opening slide, WWE are in desperate need of some changes, and this PPV should be the beginning of the shake-up.
Let's hope that WWE don't let us down.
All thoughts and comments are welcome.
